  1. If we go this route, which I don't think is unrealistic, what would the payroll look like? $70 million (since we probably aren't signing any significant offensive pieces)? I think it's pretty damn unrealistic that is the Cubs 2015 opening day rotation. We are getting an 'ace' this year, Theo has all but said it already. I think its easy to read between the lines some. I believe Plan A will be to sign either Lester or Scherzer ... Plan B involves trading prospects for an 'ace'. I could see both plans put in motion at same time but either way, I'm confident Jake won't be our Opening Day starter.
  2. I keep clicking hoping for the baseball musings and I keep getting the football musings. Can we get back to regularly scheduled musings, please? Here's one: I think next year we will set a record for homerun streak hit by a team. Not sure what the current record is, but I'd venture we go at least 50 games in a row with someone hitting a homer, which should just about do it. Or is that figure way too low?
  3. This is exactly what I was going to say. Good God.
  4. I couldn't disagree more. Lester isn't hurting here, he's made almost $45M in salary in his career. We don't know what his priorities will be but I would be shocked if it ends up being money. He should get multiple competitive offers so I would expect "team situations" will be the deciding factor. Hopefully his experience with this Front Office, his experience "breaking a curse", and the promise of this rebuild can sway his decision. http://img.pandawhale.com/post-38735-Waynes-World-Garth-sells-out-g-FUvz.gif
  5. Translation?

  7. blame the 90's bulls for making that cool Somewhere, Jalen Rose just cried out in rage and anguish. I hear kids wear their hats backwards now too.. Thanks, Griffey, Jr ... GAHHHH!
  8. What exactly is his reputation around the league? Because I'd be willing to bet nearly every team would take a good hard look at their roster with an eye to making Castro fit into it, we're he available to them in a trade that made sense to them. His reputation? Good lord.. he's not Milton Bradley or anything, here. The way I look at our prospects, if a couple reach production on a Rizzo level and a couple reach Castro level, I'd be super pleased. I know it looks weird and I hope my point is getting across, but tell me if you think a lineup with this kind ofproduction would be an NL favorite or not: LF Castillo :beg: SS Castro 1B Rizzo 3B Rizzo RF Rizzo 2B Castro CF Castro C Castillo
  9. Will Starlin Castro (813) reach 3,000 hits? If yes, will he do it as a Cub?
  10. because there's a good chance that none of them will ever be as good as stanton, and if you can get stanton for probably not stanton, you do it 10x out of 10 Yeah but if all three end up as busts the farm team is still stacked enough to trade for him -and none of them need to be "as" good as Stanton - if they were closer to competing I think I'd be more on board - I'd wait a year at least and see what develops. Yeah but if all three end up as busts the Cubs can then sign Stanton as a Free Agent, right? Whats his contract situation? And while Russell might not have the power potential of the other 3 (or even Schwarber), he seems most 'can't miss' to me out of the bunch and I really hope we don't trade him. When he's ready, he'll come up. Someone will move positions or will be moved, literally, but I think he's a big part of the future and is untouchable, along with Rizzo and Bryant.
  11. So Tiger is the only noteworthy golfer to get hurt from golfing, got it. http://i.imgur.com/Go3hwnU.jpg
  12. First glance I didn't read it as "click"
  13. I seriously think we have the best 4 prospects in baseball.
  14. Id rather Valbuena play there before giving way to supersub role. And hasn't it been said that Castillo will need to spend a little bit of time in the minors?
  15. Certainly. They just weren't as noteworthy. Has there ever been another noteworthy golfer who has had as many injuries as Tiger Woods?
