  1. "The so-called Cardinal Way is a tarnished fantasy, if not a farce." Please inject this article into my veins. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/jose-de-jesus-ortiz/ortiz-prison-term-for-hacking-further-sullies-cardinals-reputation/article_31107a34-0f18-5fcd-bf68-62ae34e32ada.html
  2. Javy is a wizard. That tag was lightning quick.
  3. Not even close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No, I agree with Sneaky. And there's been some reporting that other teams had no idea Hall was available and are actually pissed at Edmonton because they would have happily offered far more than Adam Larsson. The Subban trade isn't great for Montreal, but they're still getting back a stud d-man. Yes, he's older. But Therrien apparently had issues with PK and they couldn't let him run the entire ship. I think Subban/Weber is worse. Hall for Larsson can at least be rationalized as trading a winger for a defenseman. It's a horrible, horrible deal. But it does balance Edmonton a little better and there's some chance Larsson breaks out soon (I don't expect that, as I said it's a horrible deal). But in trading Subban, Montreal traded a top 5 defenseman in the world for maybe the 20th-30th best defenseman in the world. Weber is also 4 years older and signed until forever (2026). He's clearly in decline at this point. That contract could be a disaster in a few years. I don't see any possible logic aside from wanting to move Subban for "character" issues.
  4. Welcome to the expansion draft. Next offseason, teams will only be able to protect one goalie. That is putting pressure on teams with multiple goalies to move one now or risk losing them for nothing. Blackhawks fans, I really, really loved your first draft pick this year. I'm fairly familiar with DeBrincat, being a prospect nerd who watches a lot of OHL hockey. He's been RIDICULOUSLY productive in Erie. Size is the obvious knock, but he should be fine in the modern NHL. I had him rated as a top 20 prospect this year.
  5. Just curious, where did you find that? I don't see WAR on the FG live stats. Related: I am drunk.
  6. His BABIP rose from .213 to .249 after today's game.
  7. Lackey has been better than I expected this year. This has compromised my plan to dislike him.
  8. It's the Quebec version, specifically. Poulet Frit Kentucky. In France it's still called KFC, but Quebec's insane language laws forced the name change here.
  9. Watching the Cardinals feed. They're debating whether it's "fair" for teams to rebuild like the Cubs. "Baseball has to wonder if this should be allowed, cutting payroll and stockpiling high picks for 3-4 years" paraphrasing but lol.
  10. Still in shock over the Baez play. It wasn't even horsefeathering close.
  11. That Soler dong makes me so happy. We need you now Jorgie
  12. Peavy pitches slow and is bad at getting outs so we're going to be up late
  13. Please explain in detail. Well, I feel like most teams don't play 1.000 ball. So if a team is playing 1.000 percent over the course of seven games, the odds would suggest that they would then lose some to balance that. Now, even though the odds are against them continuing to win every game, it can happen for a lot longer. But I feel like the odds are not in their favor for that to continue. I might be wrong, though. I'm not good at math. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler%27s_fallacy
  14. I think the chances of Stamkos re-signing in Tampa are pretty remote. If they were in the ballpark salary-wise, this would've been done already. It's essentially unprecedented for a young star of his stature to hit UFA in the salary cap era. He's turned down offers since last July to get to this moment, I don't see why he suddenly takes a discount in Tampa. Toronto and Buffalo, among others, will have offers between $10-12 million. I think there's a good chance he ends up with the highest cap hit in the league.
  15. Imagine how infuriated their fans must be to watch Locke every fifth day while Glasnow remains in AAA.
  16. The Penguins have been playing like the best team in the world for the last couple of months, I don't think anyone is dismantling them. Their coaching change did them so much good. I'm happy for Kessel, who routinely got killed by the Toronto media for supposedly being a guy you can't win with.
