Yeah I just tried to look it up, but it was an article and not a thread so I think it was lost in the board crash. I remember the title was a play on 3-2-1 Contact, it was something like "Contact Is the Answer and The Reason Why Alcantara Will Succeed Where Others Fail". I still have it in the database archive. The title is actually, "Why Alcantara will succeed where Lake and Olt didn't". If you can forgive the html tags, here is the text. Ahh, thanks for setting that straight Tim. Expecting Alcantara to be better than Olt and Lake was a far less egregious proposition.

I could be wrong, but didn't Kyle write a front page article at one point claiming that Arismendy Alcantara would end up being the most successful player from the Alcantara / Bryant / Baez / Soler group, owing to his higher contact rates? I mean a lot of people (myself included) thought Alcantara would be quite valuable after his strong 2014 debut, and there was legit concern about the swing and miss tendencies of the other three guys. But even at the time, I thought the "Alcantara > Everyone" suggestion was doom bonerism run amok.

Unless it's meaning to say that most of those guys literally just stood out on a MLB field for several years and didn't do much else.

Was it also StylesCash who a month or two ago who was beating his chest about how well Lackey was doing? He was all "SEE I TOLD YOU GUYS THAT LACKEY WAS A BETTER SIGNING THAN HEYWARD" even though he never said that and Heyward has still been plenty valuable and only like two people were even opposed to the Lackey signing to begin with. Whoever it was, I just remember thinking it was a really weird strawman argument.

They have literally done this exact double blind test many times and shown that for the majority of people, this simply isn't true. And for the ones who can tell a slight difference, it is only on the first drink, if taken neat, when their taste buds are sharpest, and if they're comparing a top shelf to the absolute lowest of the low quality. After one vodka, or if the vodka is mixed with anything at all, or if it's served cold, or if you're comparing to more middling brands...the results are the same as it would be with random guessing. I've drunk about 9 million gallons of vodka in my life, and I would absolutely agree. Get yourself a $15 bottle of vodka. It's just as good and you'll save a lot of money. I'm telling you with certainty that I could I could tell the difference on my 1st, 3rd, or 18th drink. While I'm eating an italian beef. Then you have the sharpest, most well-refined palate on earth. And that may be so, I don't know you at all. I'm just saying, if we were making an actual bet and all I had to go on were your claims vs. the pile of scientific evidence to the contrary, I think the smart money would be on you not being able to tell them apart.

Just wanted to mention that Sutcliffe is explaining how sure he is that Candelario is making the Cubs consider if they should push ROTY, 6 win player Kris Bryant to the outfield because of how good he's looked this spring. So yeah, I'm gonna go with no.
