  1. Bottle whatever it is that allows Larry to be this boring and you'd have the cure for insomnia.
  2. No doubt about it, if he keeps showing this kind of power, there's plenty of reason to get excited about Pie. I just want Dusty to stay away from Pie, though. :D
  3. Even though Pie has had a nice Spring Training, I really do think the Cubs should keep him down in AAA for as much of the season as they can. He still needs to work on his plate discipline and adjusting to more advanced pitching than what he faced in AA.
  4. Restovich is slow, but thankfully there was a bad throw.
  5. Apparently he plays a pretty good corner OF.
  6. Gotta love a guy who throws his curve at 3-2.
  7. Hill doesn't have his best stuff today and the batters were giving him problems, but he managed to get out of it. Let's see how this keeps up.
  8. Ah yes, the perrenial highlight in Spring Training that is Dusty of Arabia. That HBP was on a fastball, by the way. Bad call.
  9. It's a split squad. The only SF regular playing today is Niekro.
  10. Well, that's where he should start the year. If he's still bouncing curves by the end of Spring Training, I couldn't agree more. But if he straightens himself out, I'd rather have him in the rotation over Rusch.
  11. Len thinks Hill's going to start the year in AAA. Weeeeeee.
  12. Len got a haircut! Edit: Pierre's not playing today.
  13. Howdy Nate! Now that Sean Gallagher has had a full season as a pitcher, will he be on the fast track to Chicago? Or does he still need more time down in the majors before Cubs fans can start talking about him as a potential callup?
  14. It's suspicious, but at the same time, it's happened enough over the past few years that it comes as no surprise. My current money for Prior's freak injury du jour is on: "Mark is walking along in Grant Park in June when he passes under a tree. At this moment, a squirrel falls out of the tree and lands on Prior's head. The squirrel freaks out, then claws and bites Prior's face and neck. Doctors diagnose Prior with rabies, causing Prior to miss the rest of the season." I got 10-1 odds on it. :D
  15. All this and weather after our commercial!
  16. I have to wonder what Kerry did to Phil to piss him off so much. Every other column Rogers writes about the Cubs seems to involve a trade involving Kerry Wood or trashing Wood somehow.
  17. From what I can discern, the only notable potential draftee (out of college) with Boras as an advisor (aside from Hochevar) is Ian Kennedy out of Southern Cal. However, because of his excellent talent and potential, something tells me he's gone before the Cubs pick. Edit: Scratch that, U of Arizona SS Jason Donald also is a Boras client. He's a likely first rounder from what I can tell.
  18. I don't believe in razors. Haven't used one in 20 years !! I've met Fred and can verify this. I believe I've seen is picture in the picture thread. Doesn't he have a long white beard? Yep. It's rather impressive.
  19. Actually, I'm pretty sure he's always been thought of as been very shaky defensively. That's what I thought too. Supposedly he's good, but just needs to work on consistency. Whether or not he can nail that down is anyone's guess.
  20. I think he was shaking off the rust down in Winter League since he hadn't played any baseball since his leg injury. Should be interesting to see if he can continue to put up good numbers.
  21. Was Dopirak's homer a cheapy or did he crush it?
