  1. Didn't we sign Dempster to the same type of deal though? We signed both Williamson and Dempster for two year deals and they both have worked out well. I think Miller is a one year deal . Bingo.
  2. Shouldn't the Cubs at least give Lee a week or so of rehab down in the minors, just to get the kinks worked out of his swing and of his D? I'm worried they'll bring him straight back to the majors and he'll go something like 0/14.
  3. Darko hired a Balto-Ugric Shaman to steal their luck, imo.
  4. Wouldn't surprise me to see the Cubs take Samardzija in the 5th if he slides because of his commitment to football.
  5. I'm guessing they'll go the Billy Swoope route and take RHP Jeremy Jeffress.
  6. Chamberlain got the most votes. CUBS ARE NOW ON THE CLOCK. We're not going to get this done in time...but meh.
  7. I'll take Chamberlain for the Rangers, too. Let's pick it up a bit folks, the draft starts Tuesday.

  9. The possibility definitely exists. His error rate is comparable to last year, which is not much of an improvement. Apparently, at his absolute ceiling, his defense will only grade out as about average. I think the Cubs will give him as much time as possible to grow and learn at 3B, especially considering how incredibly shallow it is in the system. However, the outlook is not favorable to Moore staying at 3B.
  10. Terrific athleticism, can play anywhere on the diamond. Great patience and command of the strike zone. Power is definitely lacking and does not project incredibly well, though. His game also needs polish and refinement.
  11. Considering the D'backs are short on pitching, have had plenty of experience dealing with Boras clients, and aren't afraid to take risky arms... I'll go with Scherzer.
  12. Hey, if he can throw his breaking ball 2-0, 3-0 for strikes, he can succeed.
  13. Funky delivery that has some deception to it. Ball explodes out of his hand, to boot.
  14. So, who's ready for the inevitable onslaught of overreaction to Marmol's performance today? It's either going to be: "OMG HE SUCKS HE'S NOT READY TEH COBBS FARM SYSTEM IS TEH SUCK!" Or: "WOW I LOVE HIM MAKE HIM CLOSER FULL-TIME AND SEND HIM OUT THERE EVERY DAY!!!!1"
  15. Not the outfield's fault Maddux can't either. He's throwing BP up there right now. Correct, but a good arm would have nailed Edmonds at the plate.
  16. I'm convinced that the Cubs' OFs couldn't throw a ball through a wet paper bag.
  17. Actually, Snider could end up being drafted in the Top 15 because of his bat and makeup, both of which are off the charts. He's one of the guys I want the Cubs to take in this draft. The way his patience, ability to make contact, and power project are simply astounding. Boohoo if he won't be a Gold Glover at 1B or LF. Just stick him there and let him rake!
  18. OF Drew Stubbs in college, 3B Chris Marrero or 3B Billy Rowell in HS.
  19. Reynolds to the Reds is official. Baltimore is now on the clock. Apparently they've been incredibly high on Billy Rowell, so he's my vote.
  20. Joba Chamberlain -Has the kind of body (6'3, 225 lbs) scouts like. -Throws four pitches (92-94 fastball, slider, curve, change) which could all be plus pitches down the line. -Has had to struggle with injuries in the past, but seems to be back to form. -Seems to have a good feel for pitching, knowing how to work hitters in the inside with little fear. -Should be reasonably signable and should go in the Top 10. Tony Watson -Much like Chamberlain, a large frame (6'4, 210 lbs) makes scouts quite happy, especially considering he still has some filling out to do and he throws left handed. -Works in the high 80s with his fastball, which has plenty of movement. Good change, inconsistent slider. -Has very little in the way of background issues or problems, consummate team player who is well-liked. -Biggest question for him is a torn labrum prior to his freshman year. He's come back from it, but that kind of injury merits scrutiny. -Likely to go in the first five rounds and should be signed without much trouble if he goes there.
  21. For those of you wondering, the draft should be on XM Radio, Channel 189.
