    Which = at least 2 more seasons of the actual team being meh. Grand. Waves and waves What's disheartening is it's unclear if the system is comparable to where it was in the early 2000s, where a number of high profile players didn't pan out despite significant hype (Harvey, Pawelek, C-Patt/E-Patt, Pie, Cruz, etc.), or if it's comparable to the system in the early/mid-2010s, where it seemed like the Cubs hit on every high level position player draft pick and trade target. I mean, it sucks that this system really hasn't done a whole lot since the Happ callup, but that's where we are now. You can see the possibilities, for better and for worse.

    Indeed, this is the one George McCaskey has to get correct, if so, everything else falls in place and the Bears will turn it around. I underestimated George. I guess picking Ryan up at the airport helped seal the deal?

    Maybe they'll move him up to GM and Pace up to President of Football Operations. I'm only half-kidding.

    This org is so backwards. The Kusinski logic above is the only reason I'm not pissed about it happening. But even that is such backwards logic. This brings me back to last year when there was a lot of talk about people wanting a full clean sweep from Phillips down. And I made the point then, if that was the goal, the best thing was actually to do President only last year. Then they could evaluate a full offseason and season of Pace and Nagy and then be in a position to be in the building, prepared for a new GM/HC search after that. Here we are with weeks to go until the end of the season and the org still contemplating a major org shift? But unlike last year there's basically no chance they can lame duck the HC/GM situation either. So now I am actually pissed, but for much more nuanced reasons. So they wind up with new leadership but kneecapped because others will have swooped in ahead of them to acquire the best people.

    It's been almost 20 years since I saw him nearly take hitters' heads off with his out of control curveball in the minors. I would have taken the under on almost any bet involving his major league career length back then.

    And that's pretty much the rub here, isn't it? The NFL over the last 20ish years learned from Bill Belichick that you can flat-out ignore press conferences or be a complete non-entity at press conferences, and the press will still get down on bended knee lest they lose their precious behind the scenes access. Ryan Pace sure as hell learned it during the John Fox years when Fox got away with not telling the press that one of the Bears' players (can't remember who it was for the life of me and Google brought up zero results) went MIA in Lake Forest and was considered potentially armed and dangerous. It's been beaten to death, but the Bears' FO absolutely sucks when it comes to putting on a public face. If they wanted to put those reports to bed, someone from the FO should have been the first to the podium yesterday to shoot down the rumors and place focus on Thursday's game. That didn't happen and now the fallout from it has become comical.

    2-1 says he's part of George and/or Michael's country club. Dude's a piece of horsefeathers, but if his sources are valid, we can't discount the story. Also, Patch gobbled up a bunch of suburban publications and writers back in the day, so it's got some weight to it. It's not great, but it's also not Barstool. At this point I don't think any other beat writer or anyome has remotely confirmed, right? There may well be something there, but maybe not exactly as it's reported. There hasn't been any independent confirmation yet, but the Bears' FO hasn't issued any denials yet, either. Something clearly is up and my gut is telling me this story broke before the Bears' FO got to talk to Nagy and inform him of his imminent firing. Weirdly enough, this might result in Nagy being spared until after the season due to the McCaskeys trying to save face.

    As a reliever, yes. I could see the Cubs putting him solely in a relief role to build up IP with the intention of stretching him out to starter in 2023/2024 depending on his development is going. As a SP, not so much so for next year. The injury bug bit him this year.

    Not to mention the NFL has incredibly stringent rules for unvaccinated players in terms of masking, testing, contact tracing, interacting with the public and the media, etc. Well, stringent for all unvaccinated players except Rodgers, that is.

    It's also worth remembering that there is a significant amount of legal CYA happening right now with everyone individually named in this report. Coming out and admitting wrongdoing, while the morally right thing to do, is also a guaranteed way to get your rear end sued into oblivion and could also jeopardize any insurance coverage that could be used to offset liability. It sucks, but I get it.

    I think Stan will be gone You really think so? Someone's head needs to roll, plus it gives the team an excuse to fire Colliton down the road and host a fire sale of anything/anyone not nailed down.
