  1. THT did an article awhile ago that analyzed their run differential. Essentially, their pitching staff is the definition of day and night. Their good pitchers are really good and their bad pitchers are really bad.
  2. Don't the Diamondbacks own the Cubs historically? I know the Cubs are 2-4 against them this season...
  3. I could see Kendall getting a Type A pick. Trachsel fetching anything would be hilarious.
  4. The question will be how the Cubs decide to bring him along. I seem to recall a fair number of people thought he would become the next Cubs closer when he was drafted, based on his stuff. If he's doing well enough as a starter, I don't see the Cubs taking that route with him next season unless they either want to develop him ala Santana (unlikely) or they get desperate for a bullpen arm (likely). If he's a starter...who would he replace? Yeah, injuries and ineffectiveness happen, but it seems like the rotation is pretty much set for next season (which is a bizarre change from the past few years). I don't know, this offseason is going to be interesting from that perspective. Between Samardzija, Mateo, Gallagher, Hart, Wells, Veal, Holliman, Berg, and Atkins, there are a bunch of starting pitching prospects that could be useful trade bait. Granted, the talent level of that group isn't as good as it has been in the past, but it'd still be enough to catch the eyes of some teams. Hell, maybe Hendry will actually trade three pitching prospects for something useful this time around!
  5. Is he the Rich Hill clone? I believe the term he used was "bugs bunny curveball," so yes.
  6. Q really liked Friedrich. I'm curious to see how he progresses this season, since it seems possible he'll fall to about where the Cubs will pick.
  7. Josh Vitters seems the obvious choice. I think it could easily be Jeff Samardzija, Robert Hernandez or Chris Huseby. Why not add every other Cubs prospect while you're at it? :P
  8. Let's see...we've covered Colvin, some of the 2007 draftees, a few under the radar candidates...Samardzija has been talked about to death...hmmm... Ah! Who do you think will be the #1 overall prospect in this organization come this time next year?
  9. Marmol's the best reliever, but he shouldn't be the closer. The Cubs need a guy they can go to whenever they desperately need someone to slam the door on the opposition, be it in the 6th or 8th inning. If he's slotted as the closer and only used in 9th inning situations and in situations where he needs some work due to time off, that will keep him from being as effective as he could be for this team. Demp isn't the greatest reliever in the world, but I'd rather keep Marmol where he is, you know?
  10. Is it wrong that I'm hoping Bill Simmons actually lights himself on fire following this game? He's become impressively insufferable recently.
  11. Brewerfan posted their own sneak peak of the 2008 draft today (scroll down).
  12. That darn well BETTER be your elbow! =;
  13. Link ...wow. Website
  14. They're 3-0 since then. If they haven't lost a game come Monday, I'll go until the next loss.
  15. Did you not just see how this game ended? The Cubs are not going to make anything easy on us I didn't, actually. I'm on a self-imposed fast from watching Cubs games until Monday, which started after that disgusting extra innings loss to Houston. But hey...I can dream, can't I? :D
  16. Can the Cubs please develop a comfortable enough lead that the last week of the season won't really matter? It'd be a welcome reprieve.
  17. Meanwhile, Zambrano has 16 wins.
  18. I'm so happy I'm not watching any games until Monday. I think I'd have developed any ulcer by now.
  19. Neifi Perez got hot for six weeks. It can happen to anyone on this team, be it Floyd, Fontenot, or Soto.
  20. Day 3 of my Cubs fast. No watching on TV for me!
  21. I'm inclined to agree with him on the two being the two respective best prospects, although Gallagher probably will edge him on my list when I go back and look over everything.
  22. It looks like he made that video in his pillow fort.
  23. http://www.gifninja.com/Workspace/44c16733-a000-4cf6-bb13-d6dd69944ca4/output.gif That is scary... That's a dude.
  24. Ahhhhhhhhhhh...Law & Order is on and it's enjoyably mindless. I'm going to have to avoid Cubs games more often...
