  1. The reason why Marquis can't take that consistency out to the mound on gameday is because he'd pretty much do nothing but throw straight down the middle, Bob.
  2. Len lobs Bob a softball to compliment Soriano...and Bob backhands the sucker.
  3. Marquis bunting against Francis should be fun.
  4. See Lou? That's why Reed Johnson is useful in a platoon.
  5. Darn! Another foot of distance and that would have been in the basket.
  6. That's mildly annoying. Or not. I'm not really sure. The Astros look like a better team than the Cardinals to me. The Astros have also been plenty lucky lately. They at least have the talent to back it up when it seems like they get a horseshoe crammed up their collective rear.
  7. Derrek Lee decides that the rest of the defense needs fewer opportunities.
  8. SEC Freshman of the Year out of Ole Miss in....2001 I think. Was the Rockies 2nd round pick in 2004. He was also Eli Manning's backup QB at Ole Miss. Which is funny because Todd Helton was Peyton's backup at Tennessee for a while. Smith was also the guy that Papelbon (from Mississippi State) struck out to end the WS last year. Prior to the Fukudome acquisition, he was a guy I was hoping the Cubs would explore as a RF option. He's put up good numbers in the minors.
  9. Between him and Edmonds, I'm beginning to wonder if this is all just a part of Tony LaRussa's master plan to bring the Cubs down from the inside.
  10. Tad bit of a head-scratcher, but Cotts has been performing well lately. I think part of the reasoning behind this move is to see what Cotts can offer this team. Eyre's contract is up at the end of the year and the Cubs' bullpen would benefit from having a capable left-hander in the bullpen over the long haul. If Cotts can't produce, then he's fodder and can be shipped off at the deadline.
  11. Sounds reasonable. I've heard some recent reports saying that Kelly is more likely to be drafted as a pitcher, although he is good enough at either P or SS to be drafted in the first.
  12. --I dropped the piano!-- doesn't have the same ring to it, though. Would that make him a pianist? Only to deaf genies.
  13. --I dropped the piano!-- doesn't have the same ring to it, though.
  14. McCann is actually out-performing Soto by a tad bit in the OPS department. It's pretty much a toss-up between the two offensively speaking. However, with defense, I'd take Soto over McCann. I can see the case for McCann, though. Russell Martin is also having himself a fine year, although he's lagging behind both in the power department.
  15. I'm personally hoping it basically ends up like an intramural softball game, with no one giving close to 100% and everyone screwing around on and off the field.
  16. better get the piano ready. I've got an old and unused one in the basement that can easily be transported and lifted as required.
  17. It makes the end result that much more palatable.
  18. Dude's been working out some suppressed anger from over the years.
