    Made's not a pitcher by trade, happily. I see Tennessee also decided to give Josh Lansford a whirl as a reliever. Peoria's bullpen hit a few bumps thanks in part to some rough defense, but the Chiefs held on for the W. The offense managed one XBH, but managed to get a bunch of singles and BBs throughout the game. Searle had a terrific night, giving up no runs, 3 baserunners, and striking out 2 over 5 IP. Kyler Burke tripled, scored two runs, and drove in another.

    i dunno if wisconsin is clearly better. i really like their team except for their qb, and that's only the most important position on the field. they're gonna struggle with teams that don't let them run at will. It's the same story year in, year out. The Badgers will have a strong running game, good offensive line, good receivers, capable at the least defense, and a QB who is mediocre at best. If they ever got a good QB, they'd be a yearly national title contender. Sooo true. Their Qb is always solid but yet doesnt have it to win multiple games by himself. Perenially underated football program, probably because they dont have ooh and ahhs when it comes to recruits out of HS, thats the only thing i can think of why they dont get more attention than they deserve. IF they can land a highly rated HS pro style Qb they might really have something, dude would probably have to hail from WI but hey they might land some guy who wants to start as a fresh. They do a very good job of recruiting guys along the OL and DL. Typically they can snag underrated recruits at WR, LB, and RB. For whatever reason, they never seem to pull in 4-5 star QB recruits. It's a bit of a head-scratcher, imo.

    Daytona won their first game today 9-2 and are now officially playoff-bound. :D

    I can think of two situations off the top of my head when Lidge has blown it against the Cubs (Sosa's walkoff in the 10th a number of years ago and the Jeff Gordon Game in 2005). I'm not holding my breath, though.

    Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...tough call. If he comes up with that cleanly, he'd have a shot at getting the runner. However, it's a long throw and the runner was going full speed. I've seen that scored a hit more often than not.

    Rule #1 of the BBWAA, there are always enough dumbass writers out there to make something happen. It's not coincidence that the association was headed by Schmuck for two years. I can't wait for Cliff Lee to win the AL Cy Young because he ends up with something like 22 wins and 2 losses. At least Lee has been the best starter in the AL this year. He's having a great season, but at least 70% of the BBWAA are going to look at his W-L record and not bother looking at anything else he did.

    I definitely think we make the playoffs this year, but the Brewers are far from done. They're 5.5 up in the wild card so it would be in Yost's best interests to not run CC out there for 115 pitches every start. He wore down last year and they need him healthy. And it's the Pirates. Let him throw one more inning, get around 100-105, and let the pen finish it. They have no intention or hope of re-signing him, so they are probably hoping he breaks down after the playoffs. I really wish Hendry could have figured out a way to get him to Chicago. We had no one in our system who could match LaPorta.

    I'm all for trading Cedeno away this offseason. He's not getting a chance to start regularly with the Cubs any time in the near future. I still think he has the goods to be an above average SS, but I don't see him becoming that with this team.

    For those of you wondering about the playoff picture for the affiliates, Iowa is in the PCL playoffs and Daytona needs a win today to make the FSL playoffs.
