  1. Wouldn't that be poetic? Our worst pitcher (although he's really not that bad, but clearly the worst) pitches a no hitter for us in the middle of this magical season? I'm not sure if it would be bigger than Estes' start against the Reds in 2003. On the one hand, it'd be a better pitching performance. On the other hand, as bad as Marquis has been, he's a heck of a lot better than Estes.

  3. I predict Samardzija starts the season in AAA as a starter. He's fine as a reliever for the time being, but he needs to sharpen his secondary pitches. It'll be harder for him to get hitters out the second and third times through the order if he doesn't improve his secondary pitches.
  4. Even if this team is putrid this season, they'll just fire the coordinators, churn out some excuses involving injuries and playing in a difficult division, make a number of questionable draft picks that pan out on defense but are horrible on offense, and try hyping everyone up for the 2009 team. I think the McCaskeys are too cheap to fire Angelo and Lovie while they're both in the middle of long contracts. Angelo's under contract through 2013 and Lovie's under contract through 2011. Unless this team puts together two terrible back to back seasons (think 2-14), neither of those guys will be going anywhere any time soon.
  5. Thanks to everyone here for making this thread a huge step up from yesterday's debacle. The offense has me a bit concerned, but a win is a win. :D
  6. Soriano apparently felt the urge to hop at some point during that play.
  7. Z didn't pitch very well in those 7 innings, but I'll take the results.
  8. Is the team having a collective flashback to the Dusty Baker era?
  9. Apparently, Zambrano hasn't drawn a walk since 2006. He hits like he's playing MLB '09.
  10. you don't have to like him, but since he's the best shortstop in the organization, you probably should at least accept him. He's like that dorky Baldwin brother who isn't as good-looking or successful and never answers my letters, but he's still a Baldwin, damn it! What an odd analogy? Family Guy quote.

  12. As much as I try, I really can't bring myself to like Ryan Theriot.
  13. That's one of the most hilarious doubles I've ever seen.
  14. Gotta love the botched H&R when the Cubs don't do it.
