  1. http://www.rotowire.com/roto_to_gnews.htm?ID=274177&sport=mlb Good thing we have Roger Cedeno on this team. http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/NickPiecoro/38442 Monday? Guh.
  2. Potentially, but the problem with PTBNLs at this point in the season is that you never know where a guy will end up come June/July. If they make Flaherty a PTBNL and he's out for the season with a torn hamstring come June/July, the Padres will look like morons. Well we could do what the Brewers did with CC they had a PTBNL and gave the Indians two choices between michael brantley and taylor green. We could give them 3 choices say they can pick from Flaherty, Carpenter or Jackson. That way they get time to scout them over most of the summer and pick who they think is the best one. Again, you risk the same problem. Because these guys are recent draftees, there's not much of a track record on which these teams can go on. The Indians at least had a book on Brantley and Green built up before they submitted both names to the Brewers in the PTBNL pool since both had played in the minors for a few years. They also had time to more thoroughly scout both before consummating the Sabathia deal. Teams don't have that luxury in these kinds of offseason deals. It's not like the Padres can send a ton of scouts to catch Jay Jackson's next start, you know? They only have a limited book on these guys. I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just saying it's really unlikely and a bad decision to make for the Padres.

  4. Struggled in Daytona, but hit really well in the FSL playoffs. Still could end up as a Todd Walker-type, imo.
  5. Good throw-in candidate (potential good setup guy), but you can't build much around him.
  6. Josh Vitters, Drew Rundle. Tony Thomas, Brandon Guyer, Jovan Rosa, Starlin Castro, Junior Lake, Dae-Eun Rhee, James Russell? I was thinking more Hernandez and Suarez. Forgot Suarez and was going to go in and edit him in, not sure how valuable Robert Hernandez is. Welington Castillo? Marquez Smith? Ryan Flaherty? Castillo's good. Smith is mediocre at best. Flaherty can't be traded until the summer.
  7. Are you putting Pedro Martinez in his era or just behind it? Pedro was the more dominating pitcher at his peak (arguably...you can make an argument that he wasnt), but its hard to discredit Maddux's consistency. Plus Maddux's peak years were pretty dominating and can only be matched by Pedro. This. Pedro was better at his peak, but Maddux had a better and more successful stretch.
  8. With steroids tainting Roger Clemens (mwahahahaha!), you can make a really good case that Greg Maddux was the best pitcher of his era.
  9. Hat on a regular basis, shirts on occasion. Same as always.
  10. Considering what the Orioles were demanding for Roberts last winter, I don't think that has changed a whole lot since then. They're going to want a lot more than that.
  11. Eli Manning is the "happy accident" Manning brother.
  12. As a Wisconsin fan, I'm floored that Brooks Bollinger is still employed in the NFL.
  13. I'm having a hard time seeing the Giants not making the Super Bowl for the NFC this year as things stand right now.
  14. Orlovsky's getting fried under pressure.
  15. Babich needs to be fired. Now.
  16. The blocking on the punt unit needs to do a better job. Oh God not again.
  17. I thought I heard it on the field from the sideline mic.
  18. That was a timely fumble.
  19. I think that ball just quacked.
  20. When was the last time a team had two QBs get rushing TDs in the same game?
  21. Was that grounding?
