  1. Lou Piniella's an above average manager. Yeah, the Cubs could do better, but there are a ton of idiot managers out there. But, then again, a number of idiot managers have won the World Series. Something tells me removing Piniella and Perry wouldn't do a whole lot of good regardless of who the Cubs hire as replacements.
  2. Do you think Phegley's going to stick at catcher in the pros? He has a great bat, but I've heard he might have to change positions at some point.
  3. No Trade Clause Hitting .176 and that 2011 option would have to be picked up No Trade Clause One of the five worst contracts in baseball Some other names to toss on the pile... 1) Ted Lilly Still has a year left on his deal and would provide meaningful innings and production to any team looking for rotation help. 2) Ryan Freel Probably won't net anything, but hey. 3) Aaron Miles His deal isn't terrible and some team could want him if they're in need of a super-sub scraptastic IFer.
  4. We'd get a better draft pick to screw up if we tank now. Bring me Bryce Harper!
  5. Way I see it, after this series, I think the Cubs are going to get back on track against the Pirates and Dodgers at home, then against Atlanta, Cinci, and Houston on the road. That's a rather substantial lineup of teams that are slumping or over-performing at the right time.
  6. WOW, 4 consecutive shutouts IN A ROW ??? I wonder what those game threads were like. If it was 1968, probably a lot more mellow since everyone would have been stoned, contributing to the free love movement, or battling a contact high.
  7. maybe they can send a message by firing a smaller piece of the organization? someone like roast maybe? Maybe they can set on fire a small piece of the organization. Say, Ron Santo's toupee maybe. yeah but it could spread to his leg and then look out. Eh, he could get it replaced without much trouble.

Say, Ron Santo's toupee maybe. Maybe they can have one of the most visible fans tarred, feathered, and exiled from Chicago? Someone like Ronnie Woo Woo maybe?

  10. Hey, lay off the insults of the guy. You can't speak ill of someone who joined Teddy Roosevelt in the taking of San Juan Hill!
  11. Last time that happened, I believe A-Ram dislocated his shoulder. So, I guess this will be the game where Soriano accidentally steps on a landmine...or something.
  12. Keep an eye on Vitters' swing. It's unbelievably quick and short.

  14. The difference between the average slider in Low A and the average slider in the majors is impressive in terms of velocity, break, and movement.
  15. Yes, it would be outrageous. I don't care if he's the best prospect in this organization and a potential Top 20 prospect at the moment, you simply don't bring up a guy from Low A to the majors. The jump in the quality of pitching is unfathomable. It would destroy his confidence. As good as he is, even a top caliber prospect could not handle that kind of jump and be productive in the majors. Plus, you really do not want to screw around with his option clock and arbitration eligibility. If you want to talk up bringing up a hot bat from the minors that would be an unconventional move, think of someone like Tony Thomas or Marquez Smith. At least the jump from AA to the majors isn't nearly as insane as Low A to the majors.
  16. No, but it definitely sets a market for him. Basically 2 top pitcing prospects and 2 PTBNL. Unfortunately, we dont have the 2 top pitching prospects. Wed have to see if Marshall and J jax would constitute that. If Shark didnt have that NTC, it could be a different story. Clayton Richard is a not a top pitching prospect. Pretty much this. Jackson + Marshall would measure up to Poreda + Richard pretty well.
  17. That's pretty much spot-on. I wouldn't expect him to start competing for a starting spot until 2011, though. He still has work to do down in the minors and needs to sustain his success over the season.

  19. Pretty highly thought of SS prospect, at least in the Cards org. Ahhh don't really follow any other minor league teams but ours. More of a utilityman type than anything else from what I've read.
  20. Well, maybe Jake Fox at 3B wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.
  21. Dusty Baker finally figured out how to cast a hex on this team from afar.
  22. Honestly, I'd be fine with giving the Cardinals three runs for Pujols hitting the sign like that. Hit the smallest letter too... should have been a x3 multiplier anyways. I'm also willing to give him symbolism points for hitting the Big Mac sign.
