  1. Why the hell is Torre taking the bat out of Martin's hands, even when he was up 3-0 in the count?
  2. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Dodger fans have broken out the wave.
  3. Still laughing? This game seems to be more about anemic offenses rather than awesome pitching.
  4. The Dodgers have missed their share of opportunities today. Yeowch.
  5. Patterson learned a lot of bad habits at the plate and he never managed to shake them. Whether it was piss-poor coaching as a young man in HS, terrible development on the Cubs' part while he was in the minors, bad managing and coaching in the majors, his own fault, or some combination of the above, the fact remained that he had plenty of issues at the plate. Now, whether or not you'd consider him a hit or a miss for the Cubs depends on how you evaluate him relative to his hype. If you look at him like any other prospect coming out of the minors, he was a marginal hit in that he provided high-quality defense, occasional pop, and some speed on the basepaths. If you look at him as someone who was once one of the top prospects in baseball and should have been a middle of the order staple for the Cubs for years to come, he was a miss.
  6. I think my brain blocked out a lot of these names. With good reason. 130/180
  7. Regarding Fukudome, his patience at the plate is quite welcome, but some things give me pause. He's very good defensively in RF and below average in CF. His power leaves something to be desired. His splits against lefties are troublesome. Perhaps he could use a platoon partner, but the Cubs could definitely stand to upgrade.
  8. i remember thinking at the time that Sosa had quite possibly just saved the season on that play. guess not. Yep. Plus, it was one of the best catches of Sosa's career. He came out of nowhere to snag that one.
  9. A few others for consideration... -Aramis Ramirez's grand slam against the Phillies last year -Todd Hollandsworth's catch in Anaheim in 2004 -Sosa's game-saving diving catch in Pittsburgh in late September 2004 (I want to say it was this game with Ty Wigginton at the plate in the 8th) -Reed Johnson's diving catch in Washington last year -Not technically a play, but a fan stealing Chad Kreuter's hat and the ensuing melee in the stands between the Dodgers and Cubs fans back in 2000 was one of the craziest things I've ever seen -This game, specifically when Kyle Farnsworth threw the same pitch roughly 50 times in a row to Julio Franco, who fouled off each one until he hit a long double to put the Braves ahead
  10. that had better be a really good pitching prospect. Just tweak with prospects and/or money That'd require a lot of prospects and/or money.
  11. It was back in 2004. Z plunked Edmonds twice in that one. Z's response to hitting Edmonds a second time and getting tossed was basically, "Yeah, I just hit him. So what?"
  12. Can you do something about the confirmation codes for registration? They're next to impossible to read.
  13. That's not how bankruptcy works. i can't believe i'm going to give hccf the benefit of the doubt, but i think he was being sarcastic. he doesn't even know anymore Yeah, at this point it's just about making random guesses when it comes to him. Frankly, I'm beginning to wonder whether hccf is a performance artist who's been putting one over on all of us.
  14. That's not how bankruptcy works.
  15. I don't think Figgins would be much of an upgrade over Theriot. Since he has played SS in a grand total of 27 games (and started at SS in only 17 of those games) since 2002 and he hasn't played SS since 2006, something tells me his defense at SS would likely be abysmal; probably worse than Theriot's. Any upgrade at the plate would be a decided downgrade in the field in that scenario. Also, as good as Blanco is with the glove, I do not think this team is strong enough to have him in the lineup every day. If there's another solution out there, I'd love to hear it. Maybe Orlando Cabrera, if you think his UZR numbers are a fluke and he's still competent defensively, but I wouldn't be too comfortable with a 35 year old SS on this team.
  16. I'm with you, Kent Brockman. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc155/dremble_wedge/podpic_insect_overlords.jpg http://www.akirathedon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/SimpsonsHailAnts.jpg
  17. Oh God. IT'S THAT [expletive] DINOSAUR.
  18. Is it me, or has the postseason seen an unusual number of struggling closers? Street, Papelbon, Nathan, and even Rivera have had issues so far. Speaking of postseason struggles, here comes Brad Lidge!
  19. I changed the channel from the game when the Angels had two outs in the 9th and were down 6-4. Wow.
  20. There original uniforms. And its funny Denver is trying to be taken serious by the league and they are wearing those lol It's like they stole their uniforms from the University of Minnesota.
  21. What in the hell are the Broncos wearing?
  22. Looks like Fox and CBS will stay with the Lions and the Rams games until the bitter end.
  23. ATTN: Donnie Avery While your TD was good, it only put your team without three TDs. Your celebration made you look like a complete idiot.
