  1. His K% is higher than the league average. His swing and miss numbers are well below average. I like Hendricks enough and he's a solid #4. Hindsight and all I still make the move Joe made becaus Phillips sucks. Well, he is a control/command pitcher that can paint the corners. And a called third strike works the same as a swinging one. The fact is: He strikes out guys at a higher rate than the league average. So that means they aren't putting the ball in play against him more than league average. There is no way to spin it that he is going to have more bad-luck sequencing... just because. And, not to mention, he gives up a below league average amount of hard contact, and he gets a ton of ground balls. So you are just wrong. isn't it going to be harder for him to sustain his current k-rate by relying on called strikes instead of swings and misses? Absolutely.

And, not to mention, he gives up a below league average amount of hard contact, and he gets a ton of ground balls. So you are just wrong. Giving up soft contact isn't a sustainable skill. Also, in RBI situations hitters are more aggressive. He's just going to have more bad luck. Like I said he's an above average pitcher and a good 4 but there are occasions where not having swing and miss stuff is beneficial. You know that.
  3. 1.5 pitch starters don't make it through the order 3 times. Too bad Price didn't leave him in
  4. Where's the guy or gal who was shrieking about clutch hits last night?

  6. He can't miss bats. That not a position where he will succeed regularly.
  7. In tonight's case Lorenzen sucks but has a good fastball. The first time through the order it will work but his secondary pitches suck and you can't go through a big league lineup multiple times with just a fastball. Dongs incoming.
  8. No matter what Jackson does now it was completely worth it.
  9. I could be wrong, but Mattingly seems like the type of "unwritten rules" guy who wouldn't do that. Ball players don't do it even without the Rules.
  10. Not worried about him in the least. He was born to hit baseballs hard and is just going through an adjustment.
  11. That commercial is the weirdest one on TV right now.
  12. Dammit that was a good swing on that pitch and he hit it hard.
  13. Yeah how was that even a thought that it wasn't a swing? It was almost a full swing.
  14. Arrieta's hopefully the reason we're going to win tonight. However, the offense isn't making any reassurances. They've hit the ball hard tonight. Crawford made a nice play to rob Rizzo and Bryant donged. Getting right.
  15. How so? Blocking only pertains to home Could have sworn that fielders weren't allowed to impede the path to the bag. Pretty sure the ump specifically mentioned it and that got picked up on the field mic. I'm almost positive if they're making a play on the ball it's kosher. I thought the umpire was shouting about Castro's hand getting the bag. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure it was legal.
  16. He's safe. Utley's old ass reflexes weren't quick enough
  17. I don't think you're a sexist(at least intentionally), but if you're really saying that you'd rather listen to Kruk even part of the time compared to what she's offered as commentary, I think you're going to be on an island there. PBP guy: "When you're struggling a 97 mph curveball followed by an 80 mph curveball it's not fair" Lady: "Especially when it's Arrieta..." That comment doesn't even make sense. At least Kruk can tell funny stories about coming up and making hitting adjustments and make himself sound like the dumb oaf that he is, and he's a decent storyteller.
  18. He's a ballplayer and the majority of them, especially the older guys, don't know what metrics mean or represent. It would be better if he didn't use them in his commentary at all and stuck with the "best vs. most valuable debate" but alas he's Kruk.
