  1. I wonder if they'll take Santana and try and land a SP with him.
  2. why would you think that If the Cubs don't make a move heading into the regular season, their moves are Chatwood and Morrow and lost Arrieta? The Brewers were nearly better than them last year.
  3. They still have plenty of cash to burn and a surplus of outfielders to trade.... I wouldn't start making win projections just yet. we found a guy who is scared of the brewers 2nd Wave Brewer Trutherism is when the real fun begins.
  4. Now they’re going to win 82 games. horsefeathering Theo asleep at the [expletive] wheel.
  5. I can't see there being much value in any baseball futures, especially Cubs related ones (bc the amount of people who bet on them). Regular season win totals and such, maybe...anything relying on the playoffs, no thanks. That's not to say there's NEVER going to be value in them (i.e. some team who has an easy road to the playoffs having their WS or pennant odds undervalued, esp if it's a lower tier playoff team) That's why you stay away from the square shops like Bovada. The public has a much bigger say and the public teams are always priced too high.
  6. I've been stomping season over-unders for a while now. I normally wait until closer to the season starting to look for value, though. Yeah the team over/under bets were great for me last year. Usually I take ZiPS and any total +/- 3 on the win scale I bet on and it's done pretty well. Last year Khris Davis' o/u HR total was 27. I made the biggest bit I've ever made on that prop.
  7. In all seriousness the futures markets can really overexpose books to liability if they're not careful. They react to rumors and speculation much more than normal lines. I think there was probably a flood of money on the Cubs to win the World Series as soon as Darvish whispers began so they had to move the odds regardless if the money was square or sharp. The real value is in the pennant futures though, sooooo if you're looking to dabble I'd start there.
  8. Once I saw Deunsing was coming back I actually bet my whole bankroll on the Cubs World Series future.
  9. It was just me. Well actually I didn’t think they were the better team, I was just convinced at some point that the Cubs were going to sleep walk through the entire season. This has become a nightmare thread. People relaying what VB fans are saying when I do my best to avoid VB fans in general. There were a quite a few more posters than you saying that the Brewers were going to win the division. Actually you were probably more angry at the Cubs than actually becoming a Brewers truther.
  10. I keep thinking the Reds should have a better staff going into every year and every horsefeathering year they give up like 450 bombs to their opposition.
  11. Man all this Vaunted Brewers talk really takes me back. Remember when there was a faction of fans on this very site that were horsefeathering convinced they were the more complete team? I still don't know if most people understand just how incredibly lucky their run was last year.
  12. Just threw a little coin on the Cubs +500 to win the pennant because if this materializes I think projections make them the favorite in the NL
  13. I can barely stand the heat coming from the hot stove.
  14. Or maybe no free agent ever signs a contract again. Best to get our fill of Bryce Harper this year before he's out of baseball or in Japan.
  15. This offseason sucks. It's been a calm that's lasted close to 3 months.
  16. I'd rather overpay for Cobb or Lynn (let's just take Yu and Jake out of the equation) or even bargain shop and bring in 2-3 of guys like Hellickson, Bucholz, Feldman, Garcia, Vargas, Tillman, etc. to compete for the last rotation spot than give up that package for Teheran. I get that line of thinking. For me the appeal is getting a top notch pitching prospect PLUS a guy like Teheran. If Teheran reverts to his 3 WAR years (just one year removed), you've won the deal. If he doesn't, he's a consistent, non-terrible innings eater with no injury history in his age 27-29 years at the back end of your rotation at an affordable price. And in my eyes, the Cubs greatest need moving forward is a top 50 type pitching prospect that's a year or two away from the majors. That piece could/would enable them to add a piece like Harper and possibly get back under the luxury tax cap to reset it in the near future. Didn’t read the whole thing because I’m slightly drunk but Teheran is garbage. Players don’t regain velocity. I don’t want to give up horsefeathering anything for him. There’s a reason the Braves went from considering him untouchable to listening to offers.
  17. What’s this now? Someone on Twitter that tweets like they have a direct connection to the FO. I just ignored them at first but then some other Cubs fans/bloggers I follow interact with them like they were credible-ish.
  18. Who the horsefeathers is Charles the Cat on twitter?
  19. Heyward is about to be caught up in a sexual harassment scandal that Theo will leak to the press. He will then do the honorable thing and opt out so he can "rehab" for a year.
  20. Well our offseason is a complete diaasater. The Vaunted Brewers just signed Yovani Gallardo. We might as well just put a bow on the division and hand it over. I think Theo has lost his touch.
  21. It does have the Maddon-Hickey connection. Guess he’s going to the Rangers. I wouldn’t have minded it as a BOR flier, but good luck with him in the Ballpark of Arlington. Matt Moore is awful so he'll fit right in with the rest of the Rangers rotation, thank god we weren't in on that trap door.
  22. Just try harder at it and you'll get it. It's kinda like those magic eye posters.
  23. Piscotty just got shipped to Oakland.
  24. Sears is at it again. Basically parroting Kaplan's tweet that a deal with Cleveland COULD include Kipnis. That was clearly Kap just wondering aloud in the twitterverse. [tweet] [/tweet]
