  1. Really? even now? I mean, I remember right before we got Aram, some of us were excited about possibly getting mike lowell. But I would think that his stock is somewhere around that of a new baseball bat right now. I just hoped over to the dodgers website. It looks like they are sharing the time at the hot corner between four guys, none of which are hitting below .285. Do they think he is a change of scenery case?
  2. Maybe a framework for a deal is done and they are negotiating an extension? Maybe not? I read the Marlins are being very smart about this in their dealings with Boston, Baltimore, Whote Sox, Blue Jays, Texas and LA Dodgers - "if you want Burnett, fine, you can have him just as long as you take Mike Lowell and his contract too." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-marnot17jul17,0,6179972.story?coll=sfla-sports-headlines Ouch! Do you think boston would be willing to do that?
  3. Do you mean...how much money did we waste signing Sosa? . At the time when we signed him, he was worth every penny. I dont think anyone could have forseen the decline. At least, not to the extent he has. That being said, I still beleive that if hendry, baker, and the cubs organization would not have played out the whole end of the season sosa controversy the way it did, we coudl have gotten a better deal then what we did. I beleive that the way they let the whole thing play out in the media, rather then keeping it in the clubhouse was a big mistake, and probably cost us a better deal. Hairston, however, has worked out pretty well.
  4. :-s I dont know whether to laugh histerically, cry, or run. This was in refernce to Joe Morgan, not me. :newugh: sure. okay. *steps away slowly*
  5. When i saw the title i was like "WTF, he plays baseball too!?"
  6. How many times do i have to say it. Just because someone stands at the plate with a bat, doesnt mean they are hitting. and just because someone stands in a position in the field with a glove on his hand, does not make him proficient at a position. EDIT: doh, i thought that said either, not neither. iM SmARt
  7. :-s I dont know whether to laugh histerically, cry, or run.
  8. Its an advantage if you truely can HIT from both sides. If you cant, its pointless.
  9. Thanks for the insight Joe Morgan. No, His keys would look something more like this: 1. Play Good defense. When you play defense, you win ballgames. Just look at the Reds back when I played. 2. Score runs, You have to score runs. Remember the reds??? We scored alot. 3. You have to have a good Pitc....DID YOU KNOW I PLAYED FOR THE REDS OMG WE WERE SO GREAT HAHA!!!!!! WOW!
  10. When you get DFA'd by the d rays, you suck.
  11. I think the cubs should try to win, personally.
  12. Well, my streak died. I blame the posotivity brought by two particular posters in that last thread....

  15. Gah. A homer ISNT what we needed aram.
  16. LETS PLAY A GAME, HOW MANY DOUBLE PLAYS CAN THE PIRATES TURN ON US!
  17. Oh, if hairston and Walker could get on for lee....
  18. Like I needed another reason to dismiss everything Skip Bayless writes. There's no way 3,000+ hits and 500+ homers won't get him into the HOF. I agree. Maybe not on the first ballot, but definitely, he's in. How is he not a first balloter. When you are grouped with Hank Aaron, Eddie Murray, and Willie Mays you are a first ballot hall of famer.
  19. http://www.thebaseballcube.com http://www.baseballprospectus.com http://www.baseball-reference.com http://www.retrosheet.org those are some.
  20. THe runner bluffed. He made it look like he was gonna stop at second, and then he went to third, hense the delay.
  21. STUPID CUBS YOU SUCK.. I TOLD YOU PEOPLE THERE WAS TOO MUCH POSOTIVITY!
