  1. But dude, dawg, man, he is a striped bass dude, man! You cant shelve him dawgdudemanguypal! Neifi deserves the leadoff spot, its like, he's like, a girl friend dude. He produces when on top. Of the order dude!
  2. He wasnt DFA'd. He was optioned. Teams do not have the chance to sign him.
  3. They didn't really love him. They ragged about his defense and he had one of his poorest seasons playing for them (his OBA was a full-season career low of .333). He was, of course, phenomenal in the postseason, but they didn't even try to re-sign him. I'm glad they didn't. I'd like to see Hendry lock Todd up for a couple more years past this one. What is an OBA? Same as OBP, average instead of percentage. oooooooh. Okay, Wow. iM Sm@Rt!!1

  5. That .410 OBP is kinda hott. Plus, Griffeys contract doesnt make me very eager to get him. I chose alou.

  7. Hooray for sammy. Lets do that hr thing a little more often though.
  8. Backe/Lane/Patton is not that hard to beat.
  9. Sorry, not trying to pick on you here, but how in the world is a 27 year old ball player too old to not fit into a long-term plan? I didnt say he was too old. I said that he is 28 and still hasnt done anything special. Its already been brought up in this thread that, that is around the age when players hit the peak of hteir career. If thos numbers are his peak, I dont really that he is a long term soloution for us. If hendry thinks that he is the soloution, i'd be very worried.
  10. -Reds already offered dunn to astro's. Blows that theory. -Reds have already offered dunn to astros. Blows that theory. -We know they are asking alot. -How is gerut long term, he is 28 and still hasnt done anythign special. Dunn could be long term and, finally, and most importantly...
  11. I would be okay with that. Sergio has done very well as a starter. Not so much as a releiver. Also, gflore34, i think the reds GM is aware of that. Which is why he wants two young pitchers in a Dunn deal. Maybe the reds GM is assuming that Kearns will also not be there after the trading deadline. Rumor has it he is on the block too.
  12. Since when have people cared what gammons said? (Remember: "Nomar will not be traded. He will continue to be a member of the boston red sox" Ten minutes later: "Nomar Traded to Chicago")
  13. Never thought of it like that. Holy crap that is awesome. Like i pointed out like a few hundred pages ago, there are a couple reasons that this COULD POSSIBLY have a REMOTE chance of being a precurser to dunn. Bolded for emphasis, so I dont get slammed for making things up to acheive my desired result, again. Anyways, so those who are interested dont have to dig through five thousand pages, here are the reasons vance and I (mostly vance) have compiled that this trade makes sense as a pre cursor. - The reds ellegedly wanted Jason lane. Gerut is Lane, only a little better. - Gerut would be a cheap option for a small maket team (props to bbb here) - The move, otherwise, looks pretty lateral. The only thing he really brings us, over greive, is better defense. Which isnt as big of a deal, because of the make up of our pitching staff (mostly Ground balls and K's) - Hendry has done similar things in the past. (See: Jose Hernandez, 03. Doug Mcalphabet, Orlando cabrera, 2004) I think I'm forgetting one or more. Someone add in if I missed something.
  14. Probably Murton  Unless hendry swings a deal before gametime.... There is ZERO indication of this. Either Grieve or Mitre is going to Des Moines. I realize this. It just wouldnt surprise me, thats all.
  15. Probably Murton  Unless hendry swings a deal before gametime....
  16. Well, this is the info that our own vance was able to dig up for us: Assuming that is true, it wouldnt be too awful hard to one up that offer. Backe and lane are nothing special. I think Jerome Williams + Jody Gerut/Corey Patterson + Pinto(maybe rich hill) sounds like a decent package. I'd do that in a heartbeat.
  17. Not only that, but the man has a career OPS of over .900. His career OBP is in the .380's. That is awesome. Do you all realize, that if adam Dunn was a cub: -He would have the highest OBP of any cub not named Derrek Lee (Who leads all of baseball in OBP...) -He would have the highest OPS of any cub not named Derrek Lee (Who leads all of baseball in OPS...) - He would be third on the team in SLG (Behind Lee and ARamis) And, even with his o-fer performance yesterday. He is still sporting a .400+ OBP in the last week (four games, due to ASB).
  18. Yeah, there's a bunch of those available right now. Market's just glutted with them... Man, you guys need to lighten up. I can't believe after reading my post you'd take me seriously. I'll be sure to put a smiley face on next time when suggesting a five-tool player should be sought. I still don't want Dunn. Who out there is a better option then dunn? And why is it that people think that Dunn is actually "out there?" I think it would be foolish for the Reds to part with him when they could center their team around him. And if the Reds are going to trade Dunn to a division rival, I would think they'd be asking a whole lot for him. We think that he's Out there because the reds have, reportedly, already made an offer to the Astros for him. (that spoils the no central division rivals thing, also). And we never said his price wasnt high, but when you have the chance to get a talent like that, it'd be foolish not to pursue it.
  19. Wohoo, an obscure reference that I picked up on! Unless it wasnt, and it was just a coincidental choice of words. Gah, its too early to think this much.

  21. Thats right, bbb. Come join vance and I in our evil plan involving dunn becomeing a cub....
  22. I have to disagree. Offensivley, our outfield still sucks pretty badly. Gerut adds nothing offensivley. Defensively, he's an upgrade. But offensivley, he's Ben Greive. Not to mention the fact we have seventybillion outfielders, something has to be coming.
