    honestly, i would be super pumped if we landed Silva...he, in all honesty, would be a very nice addition to this staff...and would probably do a little bit better in the NL Honestly?

    So, i'm sorry this game thread is going to suck so bad but I just moved into my dorm today and i cant figure out how to get my darn internet connection to work. So right now i'm down in the rec. room mooching off of the Panera Bread wi-fi next door. Which means my battery on my laptop is dying. And fast. Anyway, now that that useless personal story has been shared, Don't lose today cubs.

    Kickers and tight ends are your most important resources. Draft them early and often. In all seriousness, though, Running backs are christ-like. Treat them as such.

    Eh. It's kind of nice to be able to browse this forum at work/around my mom and not have to worry about swear words popping up. Plus, it's nice not to have the personal attacks going on. Sometimes it probably goes a little too far, BUUUUT I think that's just one negative side effect of running such a family friendly board.

    If Fielder got suspended for letting one of his mantitties touch the ump I think pujols should certainly get suspended for what he did. However, in my opinion he shouldn't be suspended (I dont think fielder should have been either) because he did clearly put his hand on the ump but it wasnt in a violent way. It was just a "hey look" type of thing. Edit: Also, mucho props to that ump for not pulling a joe west and following pujols and starting a fight. That's the first time in a long time i've seen an ump just keep his cool and not follow a player (like in the fielder incident) towards the dugout after being screamed at.

    It's a real nice site and it does track stats and throw all kinds of cool charts and stuff at you. I'm not totally in love with the layout but it's still nice. Do you prefer it to yahoo? Really it's a toss up for me. All the extra features are really cool but like i said I'm not a huge fan of the layout. I'm all for giving it a shot, though. I say we go ahead and do it this year.

    Honest questions: Is the top GM rated by his team's record? How do you personally calculate GM worth? I don't think there's any one way to do it. But 5 years of near the top payroll producing a record as mediocre as 383-385 is more than enough evidence to indict, try and convict Jim Hendry for being a bad GM. Yeah I think this is the best as i can put it. The teams record may not be the best way in the world to calculate a GM's worth but when you have a top 5 payroll in baseball and are struggling to make .500 there's a problem.

    Yeah that certainly seems to be the case. If we get hot we could probably get back in it, but as of right now we should just focus on the division.
