He's not white enough so he takes a major hit there. Though he is small and he sucks terribly at baseball. Also, he has speed on his side. All major contributors to GRIT.

Care to elaborate on that statement? Dontrelle Willis? Micah Owings? Hell, even Zambrano. If they're a good/better hitter than your 8-spot, why not give them a couple more at bats by moving them up in the lineup?

Well the obvious answer would be no because of how cautious they've been with pitching him over 1 inning at any point since coming back. Maybe this season he's stretched out enough to where he can - but I really think they won't want to take any chances. That said, I'm sure he could handle it.

Any minute now somebody is going to post a lame "the deal is done but they don't want to announce it on the same day as [insert random current event] joke. It's coming, I can feel it. They want to wait until after St Patty's Day. This may have some legs. I assume everyone everywhere will be smashed and thus incapable of putting together any of the proper paperwork necessary for such a deal.

I would have been down with keeping him for a late inning defensive replacement. The guy has a cannon for an arm and it looks like he is very talented defensively. That said, I understand we don't really have room to keep another MI just for that.

I'm only making a thread about this cause some people brought it up in the game thread the other day. Soto has a huge tendency to pull the ball, and some people theorized that maybe his patience would allow him to do that and still get away with it. Well, there was a one-line blurb in the Trib this morning that said "Piniella said the Cubs are working with catcher GEOVANY SOTO, trying to get him to use more of the field and not pull the ball so much" Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.
