    I have a strong feeling that Hendry will do his best this off-season to sign either T. Hunter or A. Jones to a 15 year/$1 billion contract.

    Wish granted. I am so down on Soriano and Lee right now, well might as well throw in Ramirez as well. What a bunch of freaking losers. This is the team that lost all those games is April and May. Isn't Lee 4 for 12 in the series, with the four hits coming in the last two games? I think you need to add a bunch of our pitchers to your list, as well. Did anyone see Dennis Fitzsimmons sitting in the stands next to the Cubs dugout? He looked as lost as the players.

    I think that's the problem. Too many of our guys know that they're taking a big pay cut by playing in the playoffs. :)

    Agreed. Know this Arizona fans: You won because the Cubs laid down for you, not because you are better. Really? I don't know how you can say that if Arizona wins the series. They won 4 of six from us during the regular season. Seems to me they are better than the Cubs. Absolutely. It's just sour grapes to say they're not better. Clearly the D'Backs are the superior team. No, they're not. There's a reason everyone wondered how they got in. The sad thing is that I saw this coming. On paper the Cubs are the superior team. The D-backs this year have been the superior team on the field. I'm angry and frustrated too, but if they win tonight they would've beaten us seven out of nine. That says superiority to me.

    Soriano has never been patient. He won't ever become patient. The many swings and whiffs he'll produce over the next six years will make Chicago an even more windy city. I honestly think when he gets mad after he strikes out on a pitch ten inches outside or high or in the dirt, he's more mad that he didn't hit it than being mad that he swung at a ball.

    Seems like Soriano is always at 0-2 or 1-2. Oh, surprise, he strikes out.

    I don't have the overall stats, but I know one team who in 1984 came back to win a five game series after being down 0-2. I also remember a team that was left for dead in '03 that needed to win three games in a row and they did it. Maybe the getting ahead in series thing has not worked out so well for the Cubs so they are going to try doing it the other way. What's the point in not pulling for them until they are eliminated? Everyone thought the two games in Chicago were favorable match ups. They turn it around at home and win those two and then it is 1 game back in AZ that can go either way. If they wind up losing in Chicago, at least you can say you supported your team to the end. Seems a lot better than bailing when they were down two games. You do realize that there are a bunch of schizophrenics on here, right? If we blow out the D-backs in game three a bunch of the posters spewing sour grapes now will swear we're back in the series. People need to recognize that the D-backs just held serve at home. Yes, we're one loss from elimination, but the D-backs held serve at home and we are just going to have to do the same at Wrigley. The series will be tough to win, but it's not over.

    As with life, the vocal minority are the ones being heard and not the majority. The person who says, "Way to go, Jacque, great job" probably says it once while the ones who boo continue to boo for several minutes.

    I pride myself in being a member of the best fans in baseball. So please understand that TBS doesn't set the start times, it's MLB. Yeah, MLB might consult with TBS but MLB sets the times so if you make a sign dissin' TBS make sure there's also one for MLB. The minute we knew the Cubs would be playing AZ, we should've known we'd be the late game. Philly and Boston will go through the same thing if their games go beyond three games. How about a 10:30 pm start for the Red Sox fans if there's a game four? As much as I love the Cubs they are just an 85 win team. Had they won 92+ games we wouldn't have to be talking about this. Let's just celebrate the fact that we're playing in October. My question is why can't TBS and TNT show games at the same time like FOX and FX had done?

    Unlike many, I never hated Jacque Jones. Up until late June he was a career mediocre player who was smart enough to take a $15 million contract from a bad general manager who stupidly didn't know the market value of Jones. Having said that, no one should argue with someone if they suggest Jacque was the Cubs' MVP after the all-star break. He definitely did well. Not only has his bat been a surprise, but over the course of the season he robbed several teams of hits and helped the Cubs' ERA by saving a lot of runs with his defense.

    With a .330 OBP, I'd say he's been sucking for a while now. I don't get how guys who are sucking insist on swinging at the first pitch.

    And we'll read in the paper how Dempster quickly dressed after the game and had no comment.

    Ten minutes ago the Cardinals were dead and pretty lifeless. Now they are thinking that they can win maybe two of the next three. Nice way to change the momentum, Dempster.

    Amazing. Soriano made an out. You rarely see that. :x He takes some of the worst 2-0 swings I've seen.

    You can tell Jason Kendall spent no time near the Cubs' developmental system -- you rarely see him swing at 2-0 and 3-0 pitches.

    What a surprise, the Yanks/BoSox game is on pace for a four hour game. No rain delay, just the typical slow play. They are only in the top of the fifth.

    Yep. Many, many times Jack Brickhouse would say, "Upper Deck is closed today." I remember many games, particularly in September when only 2000-3000 were in attendance, and, of course, back then they only counted who were present and not tickets sold. Seems to me there was a game where the announced crowd at Wrigley was 1900. But the Marlins will have to darn near re-invent themselves to get things to change, starting with getting a downtown stadium. The owners will likely have to get it privately financed, though.

    if i lived in st louis, i'd probably turn to drugs/alcohol too. What a crappy city. Another piece of evidence that St. Louis is a crappy city, I moved from St. Louis to freakin' Topeka, KS.

    I think he struggles with the limelight. He was getting it when he imploded on the mound, then he was doing well as a hitter and his name gets mentioned in links to HGH. I think he just imploded again. Hopefully he does it all weekend against us. Just like Bo Hart, teams have finally figured out he can't hit the breaking pitch.
