  1. I(and others) said they were like 3 weeks ago. Yeah, now they are just sitting on the warming rack. The only way they make it is if the Cubs/Brewers get incinerated.
  2. well that is certainly true. it's not a perfect solution But football trumps bball. I dont know what tv market Hawaii brings but Boise expands the Pac10's market a little. And as you know Penn State didnt get invited to the Big Ten for its Bball. (i see what others are listing in this thread as more likely) The Big East isnt that whacked because Providence/Nova/Georgtown/Marquette dont even have a football team. Im sure they would remain in the Big East when it comes bball season.
  3. School Presidents could care less about whats 'good for college football' and rightfully so. They need to take care of their own. ND leaves to join a conference and for all intense and purposes loses the NBC contract. The only way they leave is with some sort of compensation that is heavily tilted for them in sharing the confernce TV revenues. If ND only gets $4.5M for a BCS bowl game where does the other $12.5M go? Does that BCS pocket that money they would otherwise have to pay the conference for that schools bid? If so, i sure would want ND to play in my BCS bowl game as much as possible. One they get the jacked up TV ratings, and two they pocket the $12.5 if thats the case.
  4. The Rose Bowl gets the prime TV spot every New Year's Day. The Rose Bowl Parade is nationally televised. Oklahoma and Texas both raved about getting to go to the Rose Bowl. It's the oldest, biggest and most prestigious bowl game. Recent TV ratings (site didn't have last year): 2006: Rose Bowl: 21.7; NC Game: Rose Bowl; Next highest: Fiesta, 12.9 2005: Rose Bowl: 12.4; NC Game: 13.7 (Orange). 2004: Rose Bowl: 14.4; NC Game: 14.5 (Sugar). 2003: Rose Bowl: 11.3; NC Game: 17.2 (Fiesta). From 1998 through 2006, the Rose Bowl is the highest rated game. It's had the top, and 6 of the top 12 highest rated games (twice as the NC game, whereas all the other bowls in the top-12 were NC games). The nation's college football watching TV viewers prefer the Rose Bowl to all other bowls. In fact, the Rose Bowl has often been competitive with the NC game in ratings. So I'd say that people give a darn about it across the country. Pet peeve but it's the Rose Parade, not the Rose Bowl Parade. The parade came well before the bowl was even built. Ah, true. My bad. The Rose Bowl tends to get the most consistant draw of great tv drawing schools. Of course in 2006 that was the most anticipated NC game in a very long time, and was one of the greatest games ever. 2001 Purdue V Washington 14.0 rating. #9 all time BCS bowl rating. 2000 Wisky V Stanford 14.1 rating. #8 all time BCS bowl rating I think these 2 games are very good testament on the reach of this bowl.
  5. Lets compare revenue and profits generated from the UM football program to NU and Bama and see who is bigger. Its not even close. the hell does this have to do with anything? but if you are stupid enough to go this route.... 1. Notre Dame 2. Texas 3. Georgia 4. Michigan 5. Florida 6. Ohio State 7. Alabama 8. Tennessee 9. Oklahoma 10. LSU Notice who is not on there. Is Michigan a bigger job than USC? Probably not. Going the revenue and value route is dumb. So Georgia's the #3 job in America? Get a clue and come back to me plz. And Alabama is close and so is LSU. You just named names to say who is bigger without any facts or rational. How did you base your belief that NU or Bama were bigger, on what basis? Wheres your Nebraska on this list? UM is worth $81M and Nebraska isnt even worth $50M. UM is worth $11M more than Bama maybe not a huge as i had originally thought but its 13% bigger. College football is a business and ONE way to judge bigger is by $. How about viewership. When Bama or NU get ratings of UM that will be the day. Id wager the terrible ND/UM game will generate more viewers than #1USC/#14NU this weekend. And lets not even compare the national TV ratings of UM/OSU to Auburn/Bama. How bout you tell me how you judge bigger and get back to me. Also i didnt say anything against LSU, go back and read a post of mine discussing LSU. IF it wasnt for Miles ties to UM and his contract i wouldnt even think its a worthwile move, its a lateral move.

  7. Edmonds was a major hot dog on that one. And then with the fake ball to the fans. Douche
  8.   yes please You might get what you need and want but what about the poor Tiger fans who seemed to be getting popped on for some reason? That seems like a sweet job and it just makes me wonder why people leave there so soon. (If these rumors are true) Bad luck is all. Saban is a douche and Michigan is the best job in the country outside of SC. Hmm, maybe so. Best jobs in college football, yeah Michigan is in the top 5 no doubt about that. I'd put Texas, OSU, ND and Florida in there too. I'm curious where you'd rank the PSU job. It hasnt' been available in 40+ years, so it's tough to gauge. Will top coaches be clamoring for it when JoePa finally retires? Yes, Pennsylvania is a very good state to recruit in as well as the east coast surrounding states. Its a big time program in a good location. As for Miles i wouldnt believe it but for his ties and the contract he signed with LSU that he has an out to go to Michigan. Michigan is great program but a lot of their success depends on out of state recruits. LSU is more sustainable because the state is loaded with talent and LSU is the only other major conference school in that state. If UM slips they dont have the luxury of relying on top notch in state recruits who want to stay locally. Michigan is just above average for HS football, its getting better but its not Texas, Cali, Florida, Ohio or Lousiana.
  9. Link I expect ND to win this game. Michigan has nothing. Hart or heart alone will not win this game. When was the last time Michigan finished outside of the top 20/25? 2 years ago ending a long run. LLoyd is doing some great things with their rankings lately. It's quite embarrasing for him.
  10. I saw the replays of Brown and have a hard time envisioning the seriousness. I was worried Urlacher was done for the year last year so im waiting to hear official word he is done. Although even Alex Brown didnt sound optimisitc about Mike Brown.
  11. This defense is bad ass. LT was completly shut down and Rivers wasnt sitting back and picking people apart. The D had a lot of different sets and looks upfront. I wasnt expecting the D to look this good today, they are aggressive and know what they are doing without being wild. SD had great field position and that was the only way they were going to score a TD. No way could they sustain a good drive and march down the field on this defense. Turnovers and fumbles by the RB's really hurt the offense. SD is great against the run and they helped them out by careless fumbles. Oline pass blocked well when it wasnt a predictable down and distance play. Oline had problems early run blocking last year, again this is SD they played today. The Chiefs are going to get their asses handed to them.
  12. Hooray 0-3! :x Clausen V Mallett I. Unlike Clausen, Mallett has the benefit of an Oline and good RB. UM isnt going up against the spread so the D has a chance. If UM goes 0-3 it will be grossly pathetic.
  13. USF int and returns to the auburn 3.
  14. MSU and Minny had tight games with MAC teams today. Although MSU romped UAB last week and UAB almost beat FSU this week. NU had a tough game against Nevada. Wisky is 9-7 at half vs UNLV. Its early but so far its not impressive. There are a lot of close games this year with other conferences than the B10 too and some of those teams are losing.
  15. The Big 12 is better than the Big 11. wrong The Big 11 was garbage last year and, sans Wisconsin, is garbage this year. Wisconsin - good Michigan - sucks OSU - nowhere near as good as last year and probably overrated Indiana - garbage Illinois - too young right now Penn State - offense is not good at all Minnesota - HAHAHA, yeah Iowa - not very good Purdue - no defense Northwestern - even more "HA's" than Minnesota Michigan State - the best thing about them is John L is gone The Big 11 is not a very good conference. Don't get me wrong, the Big 12 isn't that good either, but at least they have Oklahoma. This is pretty accurate even with the humor.
  16. Somehow he's managing to get worse if you can imagine that.
  17. Well now at least the 2nd half will be interesting. That's a hell of an arm, he should be a pitcher. :) He's 6'7 and plays for a massively overrated program. Hmmmmmmmmm...where have I heard that before? They are the winningest program in college football so im not sure how that can be massively overrated. They are either winning/sharing or competiting for the B10 title year in and year out. Overrated is subjective term but its not like they dont have results.
  18. Loving it. Yeah, now he just needs to pull the ERA down and its all good.
  19. You can say that again.
  20. Well now at least the 2nd half will be interesting.
