  1. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-simers12nov12,1,6759741.column?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-dodger This guy makes Drew out to be very, very soft. Well i guess i dont see it that way or the way this guy describes him. A few meaningful quotes... "We certainly had our differences. We talked for two years about him disappearing before games and hiding from the media glare that comes with being paid like a big star. I told him I thought he lacked passion and he said it was a long season and it was more important to pace his emotions. I challenged him repeatedly, prodding him to show more life, contending the team's most talented player — if fired up — could raise his game another notch." Thats right raise him game to like um.....Barry Bonds #s?? How silly. "When the Dodgers got swept in the playoffs, the fans made it clear they weren't enamored of Drew's lack of production. He received more boos than cheers as the season came to a close. Dodgers executives and Manager Grady Little had let it be known they weren't pleased by Drew's measured approach to the game, Little at one point instructing him "to strike out" to maybe make him more aggressive at the plate." Should i even consider making a comment on this garbage........um no. This article seems like a roast job. Drew said he would be back for 3 more years. He opted out but not necessarily out of the Dodgers. It doesnt even sound like they wanted to pay him more per year or consider it. They are equally at fault if he doesnt return. He's worth more per year than 2 years ago because of the market, it is the Dodgers who dont want to step up to the plate and be aggressive. Screw them.
  2. Rutgers won it's first impressive game this week. If they knock off West Virginia, I'll have no problem putting them top 5. They've had some other 'decent' wins too. I dont have problems putting one loss teams ahead of an undefeated teams but the one loss teams just arent either winning games decisively or their schedule has some holes in them. Arkansas is probably the 3rd best team playing 'right now' but you cant discount their 50-14 defeat at the hands of the Trojans. College football is hard to compare schedules because there are 100+ teams. Therefore i weigh head to head significantly regardless of when/where the game was played. Its hard putting Rutgers and USC in front of them but its not fair to either one of those if you dont. Im not putting USC as #3 because of that crappy loss and amazingly close victories, so Rutgers gets $3 right now. I dont like florida but if they play a 1 loss Arkansas team and beat them they should jump everybody and be in the NCG. Arkansas needs USC to lose though. I have Rutgers #3 right now but they can be jumped by USC, Florida, and Arkansas. Those are the 4 teams looking at the winner of the OSU/UM game, everybody else is just looking in. If both Florida and USC wins out it will be hard to tell which one gets the #2 spot. Rutgers won't have as many impressive victories as either of these teams and is the #5 team at the end of the year.
  3. Who would you rather have roaming CF: JD Drew or Carlos Beltran. Career: Beltran .281/.355/.492 Drew .286/.393/.498 Both have had some injury history, Drew more than Beltran. Beltran has 5 years left on his contract at like $17.5 per and is 2 years younger so he will be back on the market at 35. Drew is 32 and a five year deal from now should be pretty enticing, heck a four year deal looks good. At $13M he is $4.5M cheaper and the 5th year is basically free compared to beltrans contract. I would do 5/65 in a heart beat.
  4. For a man whose ass is on the hot seat this year Hendry sure has some big ones to let Aramis hit FA. Im actually optimistic the Cubs will sign him. For Hendry to take an incredible risk like this he must have incredible confidence in gauging the market for Aram or Aramis has some crazy demands like length of contract. I dont think the $ is the issue now (by that i mean per year), Aramis is just trying to find a suitor to get him the 6th year and then Jim will cave in and sign and match that offer for Aram.
  5. Doesn't the term 'rebuild' infer that something was actually built in the first place?
  6. 1. OSU 2. Michigan 3. Rutgers 4. USC 5. Arkansas 6. Florida 7. Notre Dame 8. Louisville 9. West Virginia 10. Wisconsin Tommy Tubberville you can shut up now. Thanks for playin. How can you not put Rutgers #3. The one loss teams just have not been impressive. Some of them have been winning by the skin of their teeth (USC, Florida).
  7. Weird how Michigan beat Notre Dame, yet somehow if they have both have one loss people think ND deserves to play in the national championship game over Michigan. Once again the BCS makes no sense I don't think there's a single ND fan in the world that thinks ND would deserve it, but it looks like they'd probably get to. ND will be No. 6 next week unless Rutgers or Arkansas passes them in the BCS, No. 5 if KSU holds on. And I don't see OSU/Michigan loser staying high enough to be ahead of ND in that scenario. 42-28. If OSU wins, it means that the computer #1 lost to the computer #2, so Michigans computer ranking won't drop too much (depending on margin of loss), so it will come down to the voters. that being the case, I think they would do for Michigan what they would do for few other teams. instead of playing the stupid game of losses late in the season being more important than losses early in the season, the voters would actually look at their ballot and say "wait, I can't put ND ahead of Michigan after the game early in the year." thus, ND will stay behind UM in all the polls and the computers (depending on the margin of the loss) and remain ahead of ND. True dat. (although computers dont take into consideration margin of victory. Michigan will still be very strong in the computer department IF they lhappen to lose)
  8. What a mess today with all the top 10 losses. Florida does not scare me. They are not impressive or dominating in any aspect of their team.
  9. 42 years and now you say this completely sucks? Surely you've said this before, whats one more year. :) Ive been indifferent on this dude, i have an apprehension of japanese imports. Ichiro is a flat out freak, a talent like few. There have been some miserable errors as well as some success stories. Im more comfortable with Japanese pitchers going to the bullpen than going into the starting rotation. When i saw the chart about his fastballs being strikes 42% scared me. Not necessarily from saying he wont be a good pitcher but the amount of money to pay for him makes it scarier.
  10. I got back from my mother-in-laws 60th birthday party. Yah i know, ya'll are jealous, it was rockn. I saw Rutgers Td drive. #8 for them looked sweet. Rice is good too. Ive seen some highlight runs of his and he looks solid. #8 needs the ball too.
  11. Im all good for the 4/50. Hell id go to 55. Sometimes you gotta say what the F. If you can't say it, you can't do it. Thats my phrase that pays for this offseason.
  12. That scouting report is cool. He throws more sliders for strikes than fastballs? Thats plain weird. I know its only 199 pitches but there is a 20% difference in these 2. Cool chart though.
  13. Bellhorn part deux?
  14. Id be less suprised if UM lets me down more than OSU. Its not even next week yet and the radio and media are looking past this week. Its starting to get amped up pretty good around here already. It helps since the Lions and MSU suck thats pretty much what everybody is talking about. We've been planning our party for the last 2 weeks, but we are allowed to do that because we arent the players. Im not really looking forward to watching the game itself this week, i just want them to win and for it to be over. Its not even about the process this saturday. It sucks.
  15. From what i remember Bradley and Berrian were neck and neck. A lot of raves about Berrian but still Bradley wasn't off the radar. It wasnt a given that BB was the starter this year. Bradley can be dangerous. From the little i saw in him last year, he was mounds above what i saw in Gage. Even thous sheed is looking like a playmaker i dont like him lined up outside. I know sheed doesnt get much attention but the dude is a playmaker, just not on the outside. He can utilize his quickness and agility more on the inside. He's like a troy brown, deion branch type guy. Id like for him to be more part of the passing game plan doing the short an intermediate routes.
  16. Do we have an idea of the teams interested in this guy?
  17. Actually if they beat Temple (or when they beat Temple) and Michigan State, they'll be going to the Outback Bowl. That's a real good bowl game... CFN has Penn State playing LSU in that game. If they lose to MSU, then they slide down to some of the middling bowls like the Alamo or Champs Sports Bowl. I feared being paired with an SEC team. I think the Tigers will lay waste to our Nittany Lions Pffft LSU aint gonna put up a lot of points agains the Lions. Now offensively....thats a whole new story. UT has pretty good success with the deep ball and Morelli seems to have a fond liking to chuck it up there, so who knows. Id rather Penn State play in that bowl for the B10 then Purdue. Whats JoPa gonna do now that he cant walk up and down the sidelines making it appear as if he is busy? Dudes 'busy' gig is up. And oh he needs Lasic surgery bad, those are some real coke bottles he is working on. Not as big as Harry's but damn near as thick. Light bends like crazy when you look those things.
  18. Yes this is very good news. Dodged a bullet. Not so good news for the Giants. Strahan is out 2-4 weeks with foot sprain, (Lisfranc injury). Fred Miller dodged a bullet.
  19. Yeah. It would be kinda weird for Florida to win the SEC championship title game and Auburn make the NCG because of that. I mean is it a championship game or what? Im sure people from Auburn might argue this but they are just being silly. Arkansas has 2 tough games coming up so Auburn may end up getting the chance to prove it in the title game.
  20. "I got rolled up on and at this point I really don't know what the prognosis is," said Urlacher, who declined to discuss any specifics of the injury when reached late Sunday night. "I'm sure I'll be all right, but we'll see." I wont be upset if its a sprain. I can handle that. Do you really do an MRI for a sprain, hopefully they are just cautious. Turf toe would suck big ones.
  21. I can't see how anybody would put OSU ahead of UL. It would totally suck for both Louisville AND Michigan. Michigan would of beaten OSU at Columbus and then have to follow it up with another win over OSU to win the NC, thats pretty ridiculous. If Michigan doesnt win on Nov 18 and even if the game is close they do not deserve another chance either (unless Texas is next in line, Texas wont move in front of UL unless they lose). They had their chance and blew it, the way the system is set up they need to live with it and move on and let someone else have a crack at OSU like UL.
  22. Why do you say that? The puters have them 6th right now. They need to sell the voters to improve their BCS points. IF they beat USC ill put money they get the BCS and they would rightfully deserve it. They might lose some power in the computers in the next couple weeks because of a deteriorting SOS but when they play USC the SOS will greatly improve. USC beating Oregon and Cal would only improve that.
  23. Guys on radio were just chating and one guy said urlacher with a foot injury. didnt go into anymore than that
  24. Puters have Texas 10. Thats whats hurting them over UL and Florida BCS point wise.
  25. Lovie didnt seem to imply BB would be out long. Bradley, id really like for him to fill in if BB cant go. Hope he can get healthy or use sheed more, but i think he might be too small to put out there wide.
