  1. That was horrific. It's not the Chicago Cub.
  2. What difference could it possibly make? well they need a 1B if Rizzo shatters his leg and never plays again If that were to happen, they move Bryant to 1st- at least in the long term. In the short term, they aren't concerned about winning games this year so they could just put Junior Lake there for all the difference it would make. Actually, I bet if that were to happen - long term - we'd move Schwarber there. That would depend on the development of, or lack thereof, Vogelbach.
  3. So this Sanabia dude had the unlucky experience of facing the reincarnation of Murderer's Row. Hopefully it will turn out to be something he can tell his grandchildren about one day.
  4. As someone who lives in RR let me say that the Express commentary guys are terrible
  5. Soler & Alcantara. Im probably a minority but I still feel Soler could end uo the best pure hitter of the bunch. I actually feel like most people feel that way. He just needs to stay on the field for more than 20 games at a time, Yup. I'd argue that it's a toss-up between Soler, Vogelbach, and Schwarber for the best pure offensive hitter. Bryant and Baez have elite power, but the other three are close to them (or could equal) and their patience and hit tool could make it play atleast as much in game. Bryant and Baez's K problems will limit their OBP potential value. I do not see either one with consistent 400 OBP (or close) potential. They both seem like 350 guys with elite power -- which is fantastic -- but I can envision the other three with 400 OBP potential (and Rizzo).
  6. He's had less than 400 PAs above the Arizona League. Even Kris Bryant had over 400 before reaching Iowa. Soler also had a few years of something resembling pro-ball under his belt when he came. and then took two years off before playing again. I love Soler as much as anyone, he's probably the most complete hitting prospect we have, but I'd let him stay in Tennessee for more than 14 games....

  8. I despise this guy. Jason Parks ‏@ProfessorParks 13m Baez just big <> a ball into the third deck. I'm feeling very emotional. #Cubs Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More
  9. Batting average up to .280. and OBP above .300. Pretty soon he might be hitting .300 with a .315 OBP Shawon Dunston-style.
  10. Lost in all of the other success, Vogelbach is hitting .321/.423/.569/.993 with a 23:23 K:BB ratio since May 23 and his season OPS is over 800 I believe.
  11. Why not go back a month earlier since 5/17? .299/.356/.565 with 11 HR and it covers about two-thirds of his season - 208 PAs.
  12. He's getting demoted to fourth place among Cubs shortstops under 25 behind Castro, Baez, and Alcantara. He better watch it or he will fall behind Torres while he's at it.
  13. They might be closer to equals than we think, but I've always assumed, based on Bogaerts' age and numbers in the minors, that he was bound to be a 30-40 homer type player some day. Looking at Russell's numbers I got the impression he'd be more of a 20-30 type guy, but if the scouts and analysts are saying he's "Barry Larkin with power" then I suppose that would put him up with Bogaerts Boegarts is more of a 25 hr guy, though he may eclipse 30 once or so.
  14. Unless I missed someone, but Starlin Castro is in some pretty good company. He's just the fifth shortstop to make his third all-star game before turning 25. The other four includes 3 hall of famers -- Arky Vaughan, Lou Boudreau, and Cal Ripken Jr -- and one guy who would have if he wasn't stupid -- Alex Rodriguez.
  15. He's been Classic Baez since the middle of May.
  16. what is the scouting report on him?
  17. Excluding today .339/.444/.492 with 1 HR, 19 Ks and most importantly 12 BBs
  18. Baby steps. Let's hope he plays the month of July without issues.
  19. Adrian Rondon was born 2 months after Kerry Wood's 20 strikeout game.
  20. Somewhat related to Dolittle's 50 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio, the Oakland A's Pythagorean record is 52-23, or 112 wins. The 98 Yankees didn't even have one that good.
  21. Can someone tell me why FIFA designed the tie-breaker system so that if Ghana and the US both earn four points and the US beat Ghana head-to-head, Ghana could still advance over the US? I mean this is a tournament, head-to-head results should be the first tiebreaker used in a two-way tie.
  22. He also made two scoreless appearances earlier this month for the Padres. Jeff Francoeur is also on El Paso's team and has made 7 relief appearances.
  23. The Rangers release Daniel Bard after four appearances in Low A as he tried to come back from surgery on a pinched nerve in his shoulder (the same one that Beckett and Carpenter had). He's always had amazingly bad control, but he took it to a new level this year. Of the 18 batters he faced, he walked or hit 16 of them.
