  1. picture looked crappy in ST but it's great for me now. Oh, it's still really good, just not quite as good as the EI broadcasts. I've never had EI but I like the H/A feed options for MLB.tv
  2. Remember last August when the cool thing to do was laugh at all the meatball fans who were inevitably going to hate Baez based on completely predictable struggles when he got his first call up? And now in only a few months its gone from "Javy Does Whatever the F He Wants" to "Javy is Horrible At Baseball" after ~200 official ML at bats at 21 years of age? Je Suis Meatball. It'd be easier to give him a mulligan if he wasn't the only hitter ever -- not just his first 225 PAs -- to strikeout 40 percent of the time with over 225 plate appearances. It's just historically bad.
  3. Wil Myers? Not sure if wed have to kick in someone.
  4. Sam Fuld, CF Angel Pagan, CF DJ LeMahieu, 2B Josh Harrison, 3B Casey McGehee, 3B Josh Donaldson, 3B Aramis Ramirez, 3B Luis Valbuena, 3B Ryan Flaherty, SS Robinson Chirinos, C Dinero Navarro, DH/C Chris Archer, SP Jeff Samardzija, SP Even Brandon Guyer, Giovanni Soto and David DeJesus made it on to the field. Throw them in and that's a serviceable and crappy offense...
  5. When was the last time someone traded away a young #1 starter? Truly asking. Trying to remember. Mat Latos. Twice.
  6. Can we stop comparing Baez to Rizzo and make the right comparison: Mike Olt
  7. Notable things: - Bryant projected at 2 WAR in 199 PA. Soler, 2 in 583 PA. Baez, 0.9 in 520 PA. - The catchers combine for 2.1, Rizzo 3.8, Castro 2.7. - Jackson projected to lead the team in starts (33), and put up a -0.7, while Hendricks is projected to make only 8 starts and put up 1.0. - Lester at only 2.2 in 29 starts. Arrieta 1.1 in 29 starts. - Projected for 82 wins. Pecota likes Bryant more than McCutcheon so let's temper expectations...and McCutcheons comps are Willie Mays, Frank Robinson and Hank Aaron...of course Bryants number one comp is Stanton whose number one comp is Mickey Mantle.
  8. Fun with comps Rizzo 1 Prince Fiedler 2 Ike Davis 3 Brandon Belt Castro 1 Jose Reyes 2 Nomar Garciaparra 3 JJ Hardy Soler 1 Wil Myers 2 Wladimir Balentien 3 Dominic Brown Bryant 1 Giancarlo Stanton 2 Chris Carter 3 Chris Davis Russell 1 Xander Bogaerts 2 BJ Upton 3 Reid Brignac Baez 1 Chris Davis 2 Travis Snider 3 Chris Carter Schwarber 1 Thomas Neal 2 Jaff Decker 3 Jamie Roman Alcantara 1 Josh Barfield 2 Howie Kendrick 3 Nick Franklin
  9. PECOTA thinks the Cubs best hitter will begin the year in AAA. More importantly 2nd place in the division and 1 game out of the Wild Card 2 slot. That's with 199 PAs from Kris Bryant.
  10. Please be a prelude to flipping Castro or Baez for Zimmerman (pref Baez)
  11. You're missing the entire point. The Nats have a 1 to 3 year window to win. If they win the WS by then, it's worth it. If not who knows if Rizzo's even the guy who has to deal with the last couple years of a bad contract.
  12. about half as high as having 1 ryan braun in the lineup
  13. God, it would be really nice if we did not sign Edwin Jackson to a ridiculous contract for no reason. That's the one move that really never made sense.
  14. At least we have Josh Vitters guys
  15. I read the milb.com article, thought it was kool that there is an actual award that pays the winner of the minor league HR crown money, like 200 per HR or something. So Bryant gets over 8000 for winning the HR crown. Not that he needs it. that and nsbb's minor league player of the year award can buy him something worth $8650 I thought that award was going to Mike Olt.
  16. So, I honestly think that Soler is our best pure hitting prospect. No disrespect to Baez or Bryant, but only Soler can develop into a guy with elite plate discipline and ridiculous power potential. He might one day have a season where he is a 450 obp guy. Honestly, only Schwarber in our system is like that.
  17. I still am kind of in disbelief that he's a member of the Cub organization. 11 home runs in a month and a half, as one of the youngest players in a pitcher's league. And he's a shortstop. Meanwhile the Oakland A's remain the best team in baseball, but have had luck dislodge them from the lead in the AL West, making it quite possible that the Lester/Samardzija trades come down to a one game playoff.
  18. Castro had a better OPS in Tennessee at the same age true, but Russell already has more HR in 153 Tennessee AB than Castro did in 1000 MILB ABs MILB career ISOs: Russell - .224 Castro - .111 best prospect in baseball. So basically, whichever Cub prospect has been putting up video game numbers lately is the best prospect in baseball. Late last year it was Javy Baez. Then at the beginning of the year it was Kris Bryant. Then during the middle of the season it was Jorge Soler. And now, at the end of the season it is Addison Russell. Fantastic!
  19. 46 Ryan Howard 43 Brandon Wood 40 Dallas McPherson
  20. unfortunately he was the third best hitter on the team.
  21. Then what do Brett Jackson and Josh Bitters feel like?
  22. Randy Wells.
