  1. [tweet] [/tweet] Remember that Arrieta never seemed the same after his hamstring strain, which was only supposed to keep him out for a couple of starts. Granted time between remainder of season and postseason was pretty thin.
  2. ?? are you questioning whether you're a random fan of baseball players?
  3. missing this one the most
  4. Do tell. RH batter up hit the ball off the end of the bat towards 1B, relatively hard, Rizzo was holding the runner and was playing further in and it seemed like he just completely didn’t see the ball off the bat. His glove stayed on his right side and the ball was on his left side in between the bag and his left leg. At least should’ve been able to knock it down and get 1 out. I honestly thought it was because Rondon Fan wasn't unnecessarily freaking out in the opening day thread.

  7. Boo You're right, the orange is appropriate for halloween
  8. Doug Glanville joins NBC Chicago; DeJesus remains as boring as ever.

  10. people i know who interact with him say he's a bag. matt spiegel has alluded to it too in conversations on the score. that said, it's one thing for athletes to be a jerk to grown ass men who pester them...he's a well liked teammate and he's great with kids. that's all that actually matters. Shortly after he signed his extension, I was a grown ass man that asked him for a picture where he was guest bartending... he was slightly annoyed, (which I don't blame him one bit) but once we said thanks for the time and good luck, he responded with no worries and thank you. Sample size whatever, he didn't have to take the picture or even say thank you. I think he was mostly relieved we weren't trying to start a conversation with him while he had some attractive girls waiting to talk to him.
  11. kinda funny to me that Russell probably has a ton of cubs dry fit shirts, and he chooses to use a smokies cutoff t shirt to go for a run
  12. trubisky's reaction looks like someone rescued him from a deserted island
  13. I mean, barstool is so reputable [tweet] [/tweet]
  14. Derwood would have to add this: Age 47: get a puppy Age 55: house train puppy
  15. Cardinals 2011-2014 so 4 years. I think the Braves made it several times in a row in the 90's? Not including the 94 strike year. 1991 1992 1993 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 Edited, in Bull's link Not to say that their run was incredible, but the first 3 years included no division series so they were in the CS by default. Though it was harder to make the playoffs back then. 8 years straight is mind boggling. Gotta sting to go 1-4 in World Series.
  16. He also explicitly stated in his first press conference that after 10 years a change is good, hence the reason there's a huge correlation between the core's FA timeline and his second 5 year contract. Assuming Theo leaves at that point, best case scenario would be Jed moving into his role and perhaps McLeod as GM (if he hasn't already taken a GM role elsewhere). theo said a lot of things at that press conference and he's very good with words and with explaining things, but that whole 10 years thing is overblown. he was miserable in boston and came up with an old quote from Bill Walsh to explain at his introductory press conference why he left a sinking ship that was going down in flames. (he also said "Every season is sacred" and talked about dual fronts, trying to win and trying to build at the same time at that press conference) by all accounts, he is not miserable here, and I can't see him leaving for at least as long as this team is winning divisions and giving him chances to add more jewelry to his collection. if it wasn't for his miserable relationship with ownership and lucchino (or, in other words, if he had a relationship there like the one he has with ownership here) i doubt he would've ever left. yet leaving after 2021 gives him the time to run the DNC for pending 2024 election against Trump Jr.
  17. Cheap Tex Mex food is STL does sound like a bad thing.
  18. People with the drive to do what Theo has done generally don't get into a "there's nothing more for me to accomplish why don't I just keep doing what I'm doing" state of mind.
  19. to be fair, at one point the Red Sox wore navy blue socks.
  20. There's been very little drama outside of Turner's walk-off blast. Although Puig's bat flips continue to amaze. At this point in the Cubs 2016 run, we had the Javy blast into the wind, games 3 and 4 NLDS madness, Montero game 1 GS, and getting shut out three times. Cubs certainly kept it interesting.
  21. No, I'm not giving away their stuff for free. But I will include this segment in the spoiler: The Athletic's content is pretty stellar. I really enjoy their writers, especially Cubs coverage. But, in summary of the article: Eddie Goldman is good
  22. NL Rank last two years: 1st wRC+ 1st OBP 1st BB% 7th K% 2nd runs scored (Rockies)
