  1. Cant wait until he hits 13 HRs in his first Cubs season - and is 2nd on the team.
  2. I watched some of the game. The defense looked slow and atrocious...will probably be a long season but maybe they can sneak out the 8 seed or something.
  3. The Robinson pass especially was awesome. He failed so badly placing a ball in the end zone to him the previous game. That one was more of a fade than him dropping one in his arms 20 yards downfield but its related to the general discussion of accuracy and ball placement. Also, Mitch was so good and so in control in that game, I started to buy into the idea that it was more the opponent and the scheme than him making great reads and plays, but all of the analysis I've seen on the game suggests that he made good throw after good throw in the game. It was an excellent performance. Not that PFF grades are the bottom line in evaluating players, but they do at least grade each player on every play based on how they performed which is better than just looking at raw numbers. But anyways, Mitch had a grade of 93.7 on Sunday....to compare (and maybe its not a good comparison with it being a different side of the ball), Mack has a season grade of 92.1.
  4. Crazy that he entered September on a different team, no knowledge of his new team, their playbook, personnel, etc and had not participated in any NFL team activities in months.
  5. But he also said he's not sure they will make any changes because continuity is important. That said, it doesn't really matter, Theo has said everyone is safe before only to make changes.
  6. The guy I labeled Bote could definitely be Duensing. He was my prime suspect for ipadding in the clubhouse though
  7. its 40
  8. you might be right...hmm the plot thickens... Also I should point out I really don't care if a cub was in the clubhouse playing on their ipad, I just like being an internet sleuth
  9. OK then who is the one above Lester. Too many white-ish guys with full beards
  10. Looks like my picture cuts off the last 2 guys on the right. I think the one next to Q might be De La Rosa? No idea who the guy next to him is or the guy next to Hendricks. Also I think the guy above Lester is Chatwood. Since Hendricks and DLR are in the dugout I'm going to assume this is during the bottom of the 13th so Gore, Javy and Almora are safe. Biggest suspects would be Monty, Happ (unless he's one of the guys that I didnt identify), Heyward (doubt it) or someone else on the 40 man that I don't care about.
  11. What will be more telling is if they actually hold extension conversations this winter. If he enters the season as a lame duck, his job security will be something discussed obsessively next year.
  12. Agreed but whats he going to say, "I hate money, I really hope the Cubs dont pick up my $20m option" :)
  13. So I know people are mocking those using the schedule at the end as an excuse. And maybe it should be mocked, obviously there are other factors that could be used to explain the Cubs offensive slump but the numbers match up to a team that might be fatigued. Team season batting line up to August 19th (the last off day before the death march): .262/.340/.417/.757 Cubs battling line from August 21st to October 1st: .247/.311/.390/.701 But break that down even further.... Batting line the first 13 games of the death march: .277/.337/.485/.821 Batting line the last 27 games: .232/.298/.341/.639 The bullpen numbers have a similar dive, but there were also injuries to Strop and Morrow as well as whatever was going on with Edwards that can partially explain that.
  14. So this was in Passan's article about the Cubs today: Anyone want to guess who that was?
  15. Do they brain wash the players when they get here? First LaStella and now him
  16. I’m ok with this. Gore is not going to do anything. Might as well see if Bryant can end it with a dong. It’s a long shot, but so is Gore doing anything productive with the bat. i think bryant’s hr rate on sliders low and out of the strike zone is probably like -40. it’s a nice idea, but he wasn’t being pitched to. Yeah...it made me half seriously wonder if Kris was swinging at junk to try to get the pitcher to change his strategy and throw him something in the zone.
  17. Anyone up for taking as stab at ranking and tiering these players by trade value? Unavailable, unlikely to be dealt, or not going to get enough of a return to care about so I'm not including: Quintana, Hamels, Hendricks, Lester, Cishek, Chatwood, Strop, Rizzo, Baez, Bryant, Contreras, Heyward, Zobrist, LaStella Carl Edwards Jr. Mike Montgomery Kyle Schwarber Albert Almora David Bote Ian Happ
  18. Yes his moved saved the game for us but I’d still contend that 2 outs runner on first removing Rizzo from the game was the wrong time to use him. He should have came in when Happ (as a PH) got on to lead off the 6th with the top of the order due up. You don’t remove anyone from the game and you aren’t relying on a 2 out hit to score, you can steal 2nd and 3rd, second and bunt him to 3rd etc. I guess my only hesitation is that he was scared of Freelands pickoff move
  19. "even if it's girardi" Yeah he meant even if it’s not Girardi right? Oh wait it’s rmack
  20. I hope some of you trip and somehow land on your nuts while going to bed tonight. That's why I've taken a huge step back from the Cubs after 2016. The fact that sports can do this to people is dumb. It's pure tribalism. Be happy for the Brewers if they go far. 2 reasons: Ryan Braun and Packers fans
  21. Take a couple years to write about how Heyward is fixed I’ll die defending Duke and his excellent analysis even if it does jinx them every time
  22. I don’t necessarily want Maddon gone but I wouldn’t be 100% opposed to a change either. I might regret saying that at some point but I just feel like things have gotten very stale the last couple of years and personally I’m really annoyed with his comments about Addison.
