I am hoping that as the LaRussa/Matheny influence wanes, they stop with their easily defensive self-righteous [expletive]. While easy to make fun of, its also annoying as all hell. Unfortunately, I think the residents of St. Louis are very defensive in general so that won't completely go away. -

1. Cody Parkey.* *maybe That reminds me of the year that Desmond Clark "made" the Pro Bowl in a year where the Bears got absolutely no production from TEs. Even he was shocked. And then they realized that it was actually Dallas Clark that made it and the NFL rescinded the invite.

It might be easier to list which Bears aren't on the Pro Bowl roster at this point.

Its been like this for a while. It's been long overdue to kill it. Have an all pro team and some type of Awards show. Yeah I'm sure for certain players its an honor but the way they replace people really hurts the value of being selected a bit. I mean I love that Mitch made it but it means that he's judged as the 5th best QB in the conference...and that's assuming there wasn't a Pro Bowl alternate ahead of him that declined to go. Edit: Maybe even 6th best QB since Dak Prescott was also added. So all 3 original NFC QBs have been replaced (Russell replaced Rodgers, Dak replaced Brees and Mitch replaced Goff)

Right, and Yadi had 1 title in his first 7 seasons. This will be Bryant's 5th season coming up. -

Agree with derwood. In the playoffs both teams should possess the ball no matter what. If you want to make things shorter, if the first team scores a TD and the second team matches, the second team has to go for 2

Ha. I mean Michigan has only trailed in the 2nd half of like 2 games but ok. They aren't a perfect team and will definitely lose some games in the Big Ten gauntlet but I believe they are right up there with Beilein's best Michigan teams. They have scoring depth, play team defense, have the perfect point guard who runs the offense so well. We will see, the schedule gets a lot tougher starting tomorrow. With regards to Illinois, hasn't their thing this year been staying close in games and then faltering late? I think they are certainly better than their results so far but not sure to what degree

It's a good test of the mini rise in popularity the NHL has had (I think? maybe just coincides with my attention peaking w Hawks run). We had 10 consecutive Stanley Cup Finals with at least 1 of Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA or Boston, and if you add the Rangers and a pretty popular Wings team, 14 of the 20 finalists in that period were one of those 6 teams. This year the division leaders are currently Tampa Bay, Columbus (tied w Washington), Winnipeg and Calgary. Boston and Toronto are in the mix too but for the most part its less popular teams.

Now that I think about it, the comments about the Cubs potentially liking the FAs in 2020 better might be the truth. They may have decided in 2018 that they needed pitching, thought Harper/Machado would command too much this winter as an overcorrection to last offseason and/or for whatever reason weren't as high on them, so they spent the money earmarked for them on Yu, and then when some contracts like Zobrist come off the books after 2019 go after guys like Xander Boegarts, Arenado, Ozuna, Goldschmidt, etc. Not saying I agree with the strategy, but it follows some level of logic at least.
