  1. Can’t believe we went into the season with this rotation and little depth. I know Q and Chatwood have had injuries but still, this is supposed to be our “window” and we only have quality starters 2 out of every 5 games horsefeathers the Ricketts family
  2. Least fun game ever is counting how many Chiefs fans are wearing a mask without covering their nose or not wear a mask at all.
  3. Not sure which thread to put this in, so ill just throw it here. Tonight is a sports equinox - aka a day where MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL all have meaningful games. This has only happened in 21 days ever. Guessing there will be a few more added in the coming weeks, but pretty cool after having absolutely 0 sports for several months.
  4. Oh hell yeah 'Why Your Team Sucks' is back on Defector. The articles appear to be free right now, not sure if that is going to change at any point soon... https://defector.com/author/drew-magary/
  5. a) Galvis had an error b) He gave up a hit to Caratini a) I wasn’t watching the game so I missed that b) Caratini didn’t have a hit when I posted that
  6. Bauer on pace for an 18 K perfect game
  7. I think its already confirmed that they are playing the season as the Washington Football Team. I think they are working through copyright issues with whatever their new name is going to be. Really weird that they are selling "Washington Football Team" merchandise though.
  8. I’m not even sure we need 30 wins. Right now the Brewers are 18-22 and the Reds are 18-24. If the Cubs only win 28 games (meaning they go 3-14 the rest of the way) the Brewers would need to go 11-9 the rest of the way to overtake the Cubs, and the Reds 11-7.
  9. Of course, during that 17 game stretch the Cardinals are playing 25 games. The primary concern is that 10 of those 25 are against the Brewers, and someone has to win those games, so the Cubs just have to win some series here. Win this and the next series against the Brewers and the rest of the season should work itself out fine. Yeah not too concerned about making the playoffs. Actually not too concerned with winning the division either other than not letting the stupid cardinals win it. Good point about the Brewers/Cardinals games
  10. Always good to win a non-Hendricks/Darvish game Time to step up our play. The Cardinals do not play a team with a record above .500 for the rest of the season while the Cubs play 8 of their remaining 17 games against winning teams.
  11. Yeah Woj just reported that we are interested. Sixers are too. I’d be excited
  12. Looks like we’ve got the Underwood who is allergic to the strike zone. Good thing the Reds are chasing
  13. so this is what it feels like to be on the other side of “crappy pitcher inexplicably shuts down an offense“
  14. Not surprising that the 2 wins in this 5 game series were the ones started by Yu and Kyle. If we had even 1 more average starter on this team id feel a good bit better about them.
  15. Well, I avoided following the game to this point but just caught the score on Twitter so I turned it on. Blame me when they blow it
  16. Normally I don’t dance on someone’s (career) grave but, I’m even more happy this douche was canned
  17. I don’t think I’m going to watch or follow this one.
  18. People are complimenting the Cardinals for how well they’ve done with all the double headers compared to the 2018 Cubs death march... The Cubs during that 2018 stretch - 24-16 The Cardinals during their post-COVID stretch - 15-12 Now the Cubs did start that stretch 7-1 until the weight of that stretch started to maybe affect them, but even then their record was 17-15. The reason that stretch seemed so damn arduous is because the Brewers went 26-10 during that same period
  19. How is this team so incompetent at hitting with RISP?
  20. I doubt anyone likes baseball when they are hitting .169
  21. I was laughing about how people were saying the Cubs of the last few years don’t know how to put divisions away but here we are again, instead of putting away the division they are giving the Cardinals pole position
  22. Love that graphic. Cubs 0 for their last 28 with 11 Ks with runners on base
  23. Which Cubs team is real, the one that went 13-3 to start the year or the one that is looking like it’s going to be 10-14 since?
  24. St. Louis never ever losing doubleheaders and often sweeping them could be a problem Yeah. Im also not looking forward to that nice soft 8 game stretch against the Pirates and Royals the last 2 weeks of the season while the Cubs are playing Minnesota and Cleveland
