  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=rogers_phil&id=2107335 Pretty good article. I figured its worth posting for those who don't visit ESPN.com regularly. I still think its a terrible idea to bring him up this season, although the comparisons to Patterson are not fair to the kid.
  2. Saw this on the ESPN.com Insider Rumor page: Would be interested to see what we could do with that. With Wang going on the DL could we see: Patterson and Rusch + prospect for Sheffield I doubt it because the Yankees are contending now and Rusch doesnt seem like the impact pitcher that the Yankees would be looking for. But it's worth thinking about
  3. I'm not sure about street price. For whatever reason, after releasing a ton of great seats for today's game, they haven't released any for the Friday and Saturday games. I'm hoping that changes, though. Kids 2 and under don't need a ticket, so unless you think she can pass for 1 or 2, she will need one. SRO tickets are sold when the box office opens the morning of the game. I don't know how you could manage that with a 4-year-old, though. By the way, it's obviously too late now, but they even released dugout and bullpen seats this morning for today's game. I'm guessing they released a lot of tickets for today's game because it was a makeup game. But yeah, the street value has been low all year. I've been able to consistantly get tickets below face value if you are willing to wait until game time. My friend was even able to get $32 seats for the first Red Sox-Cubs game for $40 by waiting until the game started. I would expect to pay face value or slightly more considering its a Saturday in July and the Cubs have been playing better recently.
  4. Believe it or not, but the Cubs have played .500 ball over the last 16 games. Two four game winning streaks sandwhiched around an eight game losing streak. Not great, but considering how bad it got, I'll take it. And look at that, we're a .500 team again
  5. OK Dusty, one more hot streak and then he's done. OK? Seriously, this is IT
  6. Well Murton is officially a Cub now....
  7. You know what else he likes to do, but I won't get into that
  8. Prior was due to go yard too, you could see it in his eyes
  9. Figures, the only chance we'd ever have to see a Neifi-Blanco run produced.
  10. OOC, anyone know why Blanco changed his number to 24?
  11. I changed my answer on the poll about 9-10 times before I ran and crouched in a corner where I was found several hours later muttering to myself Now I am back and still confused as ever. Common sense would say that I would chose the Cardinals, because living in Chicago is already pretty much unbearable dealing with Sox fans. Honestly, I don't hate the Sox that much, but their fans piss me off greatly to make me hate the Sox as a team now. I think most fans that dislike the Sox do so because their fans antagonized them into hating the southsiders. So the answer is easy right? No not at all. While I don't hear from them as much, I hate the fact that our arch rivals are doing so good. I loathe seeing Pujols being paraded everywhere around baseball as its best player. I hate driving anywhere downstate and dealing with seeing Red hats with STL on them. It would be painful as hell living in a city with the Sox as champs, but I just cannot for the life of me find a way to cheer on the Cards. I vote White Sox
  12. Cubs fans are so smart :)
  13. By the way, you do realize this thread will be bumped continously every time the Cubs play diverts from your prediction right?
  14. Curse thursdays.. I can think of four of those losses off the bat: That home loss to Colorado The 4th game of the latest Brewers series in Milwaukee Last Thursdays doubleheader loss to Atlanta for their 8th in a row....ugh
  15. My prediction Pit x 4 (3-1) Cin x 4 (3-1) Stl x 3 (1-2) SF x 3 (2-1) Ari x 4 (2-2) So 11-7, and I feel like I'm being too optimistic with that. That would put us at 54-51 and probably 4-5 games out of the Wild Card
  16. The fans want a World Series, I don't blame them for booing. Also, if I'm making millions of dollars, I will make sure to form a line where people can come and boo me while I'm working if they feel I'm not performing up to task. I'm not saying it helps a player, but IMO its usually justified.
  17. I also must work, otherwise, I would most likely bite Edit: Plus, I'm not sure I want to force the Cubs to lose again :(
  18. Corey Patterson talks for the first time since being demoted. He talks about his reaction to being sent down, what he plans to work on in the minors, when he thinks he'll be back up to the majors, whether he has a future with the Cubs, and his response to fans booing him. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-050712cubs,1,2153650.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Edit: Maybe this should go in Minor Leagues ;)
