  1. Thank you for an educated opinion. I truly appreciated it!! It didn't have to be this difficult..... :) You didn't need to "push" us to respond how you wanted us to. That's the flow of the board, you will get a couple of light hearted responses but eventually you will get what you are looking for. Anyways, like CPatterson said, Sox fans are second class and mostly jealous of the attention we get. Even when they are winning, they seem to take just as much pride in a Cubs loss as a White Sox win. More power to 'em.
  2. It's interesting, but it seems like he is trying not to step on any toes in case an MLB team comes calling for him again.
  3. Thanks Latroy, 2 games down, about 20 more until we are even :)
  4. The thing I love is now that 0-fer-Gerut is on the team, he has passed up Murton on the PH depth charts too. Maybe we should make a backdoor agreement to "loan" Cedeno and Murton from us to play for like 1/2 the season and then trade them back to the Cubs next July as grizzled veterans.
  5. Only one problem. In St. Louis, Washington St. is a small insignifigant road on the NW side of the city. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&location=cMpJu7lkVtdhcJOsEqPzNilwnR9KZ7YeYYupjN1xGRGmhS%2bXOVbQ45rEQHFpTF4FA%2fs57WsjBVR1TyCT6j0jPO6a5coSzUMLFe5mX4QL0X92ifr4aOb%2bW9kWATE3W9A4VxnZKN0ecSsAQlSmtEzMfYD3cEkLGMF6 Unless he was talking about Washington St. in Chicago.
  6. Is there a difference between scoring a lot of runs and having a consistant lineup? I think so. IIRC, the White Sox had a similar offense to ours last year, lots of HRs, feast or famine type offense that drives you mad. The additions they made might have called for less runs, but when you have people that can get on base at a .360+ clip, you are bound to consistantly score at least 3-4 runs a game.
  7. At tonights game, I happened to glance over at the famous ACXXXXXX sign over in RF. I noticed that it now read AC026097. Earlier in the year, it clearly read AC016097 (confirmed: http://community.webshots.com/photo/366959130/366959130OSzxFp ). There is only one reasoning for this, they have given up on the division and are making a point apparently. Anyone else confirm this, and anyone think they are jumping the gun a bit? Anyone think this is a pointless thread ;)?
  8. Just wanted to note that I saw Nomar after tonights (7/25) game. He came out and looked like he was walking well. He took his equipment bags and packed him in his car, presumably to goto Peoria. He even took about 5 minutes to come and sign autographs for the fans waiting for players on the other side of the wall. Class act. Edit: To add on, I feel bad for Novoa, everyone but me thought he was Lee when he came out. Also, only about four people, myself included, actually recognized Rich Hill. Oh well.
  9. It's not really a "so-called LF platoon." It's the definition of a LF platoon. Murton plays against lefties and Hollandsworth plays against righties. I don't agree with it, but Dusty is right when he says it's a platoon. Maybe so, but I don't understand the reasoning considering Hollandsworth's numbers vs. Lefties and Righties are remarkably similar.
  10. How about Matt Murton getting a start in your so-called LF platoon Dusty.....
  11. Yeah I thought it was pretty weird. I almost thought Dusty was sternly talking to him about something in the game. With all we have heard about how JHJ has upset Cubs brass, and how we speculate JRJ's favor with Dusty it seemed weird for him to be pulling Jerry aside and talking to him immediately following a win. I was at ESPNZone with no audio so I couldn't hear anything
  12. It's hard seeing a Cardinals fan post in this thread after a devistating loss, even if that person is respected by me as a poster and the post was equally respectful. Don't take it the wrong way though :)
  13. Besides I like this quote too: How did Rich Hill become the top pitching prospect in the minors? Shouldn't players like Felix Hernandez be a bit worried about this? Edit: Not that I mind things like this being thrown around, it can only help. Rich Hill for Albert Pujols plz
  14. That's great. I already posted that in this thread and no one said it was great then. :( nobody likes you rocket, sorry It's true man sorry :(. But if it makes you feel any better I stated that the Reds brought up Austin Kearns to be traded in this very thread and no one replied
  15. Don't worry guys, if Vance doesn't take out the Cards star players, I'm sure Bazooka Z will do so.
  16. Jon Miller has been working ESPN Sunday Night Baseball since 1990 according to ESPN.com, which was when Bonds was still a Pirate. Furthermore, he has only been calling Giants games since 1997, before that he was the Orioles broadcaster.
  17. It's pretty obvious that one of the Reds OF is going to be traded. I think the whole "we're not trading Kearns" front is just a ploy. They are being smart and waiting closer to July 31 when teams start to get anxious. There is a lot of pressure for Jim Hendry to make a move for a starting LF, and this appears to be his target. It was also strange that the Reds management brought up Kearns from AAA all of the sudden, when according to RedsZone, they said a week ago that he wasn't going to come up anytime soon. I think Kearns will most likely be a Cub on August 1, but it remains up for debate how much Hendry will give up for him.
  18. Are you saying that Dusty would cost the Cardinals 12 games out of the first 90 or so? You know, the players do stuff too. I think you guys are overestimating the ineptitude of Dusty. I think he is one of the worst too, but there is no way he is responsible for 27% of the teams losses (12/45)
  19. Are they real Red Sox fans, or are they like half of "Red Sox Nation" and have been fans since about 9 months ago? Well they live in Boston, the center of Red Sox nation where people have been die hard fans for years.
  20. I can wear my hat with pride. At least we aren't the Rockies
  21. The ballpark might fool ya, but we're not in Denver.
  22. Everybody loves the Cubs, everyBODY love the Cubs, on WGN!
  23. Cub Killer Austin Kearns? Might as well balk in another run and get over the agony.
