    Oh well, at least they have the Lions....err uhh the Tigers BTW, good for Miami. They looked like they might not get out of the first round against the Bulls, but they have turned it on. Funny, I'd argue that of all 3 teams they played, the Bulls played them the hardest

    Yes, his last 2 starts have been real solid. He's gonna be a solid pitcher in this league.

    Encarnation - .240/.274/.425 JOCK - .283/.317/.457 Looks like we made the right choice, despite the boneheaded plays. Still wish he had better OBP though obviously.

    Meh, 5th place or 6th place. What does it really matter. Either way we suck. The Pirates probably are better then us at the moment. They've been playing good ball.

    Anyone have an idea who the "different player" might be? No indication of who the Cubs might be seeking. The Dodgers do have a deep farm system fwiw. am guessing pierre. I'm guessing a lineup with Lofton, Furcal and Pierre would be overkill

    Fast or fat guy? I don't see Perez as fast. You wouldn't say he at least has above average speed?

    You know Rickey Henderson is probably still available. I bet he's somewhat fast and can somewhat catch the ball still...

    I doubt they'd trade for Bynum considering they just dumped him off on us in March. And how do I put this nicely....Neifi Perez doesn't really fit into the organiztional philosophy that Billy Beane plans for. Fast guy who has above average range and doesn't get on base.

    He used to be one of my favorite Non-Cub NL Central players (which makes him one of my least favorites but still..) What happened to him in Oakland?

    He'll be our savior! It's always nice getting a Carlos Beltran in the middle of the season.

    Don't see the problem here. Since the Cubs are not going to make their players take walks, then our biggest problem is no power. We just traded one of our 30 2B for someone who can play 1st and hit for a little more power, and when Lee comes back, he will be our power off the bench. If the splits against lefties are true, he could even platoon with Jones. Not a great move, but a necessary one.

    He may be a washed up veteran, but he'd be leading the team in HRs and RBIs right now.
