    Oh well...he still provides a decent OBP and I'm thinking that his numbers the last 2 seasons weren't effected by steroids, so if he can provide that production and we don't give up too much, I'm ok with it.

    I guess I can live with Hendry saying that (although I'm sure he knows how much emphasis you place on stats like OBP, OPS, VORP and was just giving you what you wanted), but I'd rather Hendry place a little more emphasis on OBP. There were too many Jacque Jones/Jeromy Burnitz types on this team the last few years and it showed in our overall rankings. 2004 especially could have ended much differently if we had a more consistent offense that could get on base for our key HR hitters.

    I would have to disagree with you if, as claimed on ESPN Radio, Roger Clemens is named in the report...... If Clemens is, in fact, named, will his HOF chances take a big hit? Maybe its just anti-climatic for me because I don't think its a big deal that Clemens was named. I already suspected it anyways.

    I could be completely wrong, but I have a feeling its going to be rather anti-climatic in terms of the names released. A decent portion of the list is going to be former Mets, and then after the report comes out what is even going to happen. Probably 30-40% of the players are going to be retired or out of the game, an additional 25%-35% are going to be too small names to care, which leaves only about 5-10 players that people will really be talking about, and those names are probably already names that we've already known about/speculated about like Tejada, Sheffield, Bonds, etc.

    That's the point. He didn't want to be here. Whether there was some stuff that went on in the inside that caused him to hate the Cubs org, or he just wanted a fresh start somewhere else, the bottom line is Prior wasn't going to come back to the Cubs, which is why he didn't take 1+

    What does that matter? Prior was in his arby years and Wood had more service time. He wasn't being underpaid relative to his experience and performance.

    Troll How is that being a troll? Teams are going to be interested in picking up Prior. I don't understand who him showing interest in having his team sign Prior can be considered trolling. He's kidding. I was kidding, however as a Cubs poster on this board, I don't like the feeling of an NL Central rival openly root for a player that causes such an emotional response for Cubs fans.

    Hendry said he tried to gauge interest at the winter meetings in a Prior trade and there was none. I thought the Rangers and Padres had/have interest? Reds did. No way Hendry trades him within the division and risk having him pitch well against us. Or let him hit the free agent market and get nothing in return, while still going to a divisonal team. I think the odds are like 2-1 if he hits the open market he ends up in Cincy. I highly doubt this. If he leaves he will goto the West Coast.

    Here is a good projection list compiled for Fuk which includes ZiPS, CHONE, and PECOTA rankings. The general consensus that I'm reading all over the web is that he is basically a JD Drew/Bobby Abreu type player.     That's how far Prior has fallen...he has slipped completely from the public's conscience. Even if the report isn't true, I wouldn't be too optimistic at the chances of keeping Prior. It's just not going to happen.

    That's an assumption. But him coming back and pitching 10-15 starts isn't? I think I have his past history on my side of the assumption while the other side of it is wishful thinking. There is no past history of Prior coming back from surgery. That type of surgery is different for Prior because he's Mark Prior? Doesn't it take a year? Thats absurd. What an ignorant statement. Yes, what you just wrote is, I agree. Yea that makes sense. How can you say because its Prior it will take a year? Prior has never had surgery until now, so you have no clue at all what his recovering ability is like. Im sure you will point at how long it took Prior to come back from other injuries and still be horrible. Well when his arm was still hurt he wasnt actually recovering, but still trying to pitch. Now that he has had his injury fixed once and for all, how in the hell can you think you know what his recovery time is? Let me guess its the steroids again huh. I guess we'll find out tomorrow won't we?

    I'd be all for it as well, but it's hard to how it could happen without Rich included. That's fine Zambrano Bedard Lilly Marquis Dempster/Marshall is good for me.

    USS said Petrick in another tread. Didn't they move Veal to the pen? Veal is still in the rotation as of now. He might move there soon. Petrick is probably going to stick in the pen due to the injury history. Behind Hart is Mateo and then probably Veal/Samardzija on the depth chart (if Gallagher is traded). That doesn't sound too promising. It could be 2006 all over again if a pitcher or two gets hurt for the Cubs.

    USS said Petrick in another tread. Didn't they move Veal to the pen? I think we've still got O'Malley who wouldn't kill us for a few starts if we needed him. Do we still have Mateo? I can't remember hearing anything about him for a while. He was injured most of last year...I don't think he's high on the totem poll really.

    I don't want to give up Pie, but if we had to throw him in for Luke Scott to sweeten the deal, I would do that. Then all you have to do is find a way to convince Lou and JH that DeRosa can play SS and we'd have an awesome offense balanced with power, obp, speed, and LH/RH 2B - Roberts (S) Good OBP and excellent speed CF - Fukudome (L) Very good/Excellent OBP, above average power and speed 1B - Lee ® - Excellent OBP, passible speed and good power 3B - Ramirez ® Good OBP, great power LF - Soriano ® Great power, very good speed RF - Scott (L) Good power, good OBP SS - DeRosa ® Decent power, good OBP C - Soto ® Unknown but should be a solid hitter.

    If we trade Gallagher and another young pitcher (lets say Marshall) and let Prior go, I'm really worried about the depth of our rotation, a rotation that overperformed their expectations last season. Zambrano Lilly Marquis Hill Dempster then who else? Veal? Hart?

    I won't boo him at all. The Cubs treated him like garbage. I think it went both ways. And I think Prior wanted out of Chicago long before the Cubs lowballed him in contract talks last offseason.
