  1. Sure, theres no salary cap, but if we end up with an owner without the deep pockets of the Trib, dont expect to see any big signings for a very, very long time. If that happens, we will have issues in the future regardless of the Soriano contract unless we hire the next Billy Beane. Not necessarily. We just have to hire a GM that doesn't throw money at all his problems and worry about the consequences later.
  2. Good, it will match the fact that our entire bullpen is about to go on the DL with arm injuries.
  3. Probably because its almost June and they are right there with us. That and some of us dont think we are as invincible as our record indicates. Maybe if our number 2 starter didn't have an ERA in the mid 5's I'd feel a little better
  4. how did you feel a week ago When he was hot? I still didn't like him. Someone described h im as Pre 1998 Sammy Sosa, and that thought has stuck with me. An OK player to have on the team I guess, but nothing we can't live without.
  5. Second place Cubs. Leave the team Soriano.
  6. Yay 2-4 road trip! I wish tomorrow was an offday...
  7. I can't believe I'm saying this given the Cubs record against the Pirates, but I don't want to see this team again for awhile.
  8. I don't think a RH has ever put one in the river. If they have, that's really impressive.
  9. Catch the ball. "I've decided that I like guys that catch the ball" - Jim Hendry, the offseason before signing Alfonso Soriano.
  10. Yeah it's not like he is pitching against the Cubs.
  11. C'mon don't hit the first batter. Oh wait..
  12. The Brewers are 6 games behind the Cubs. Cubs were 8.5 behind the Brewers last June. It's a good thing that the Brewers rotation is held together by bits of string then. So is the Cardinals, but it doesn't seem to stop them.
  13. The Brewers are 6 games behind the Cubs. Cubs were 8.5 behind the Brewers last June.
  14. Best offense is baseball. Do I have to mention this again? With hitters like Michael Bourn and Brad Ausmus in their regular lineup, how could they not be?
  15. Of course they are. They are facing that scrub Cole Hamels who came into the game with 19 straight scoreless innings.
  16. Ted Lilly Today: ERA: 7.20 (and counting) WHIP: 2.40
  17. I can't wait until we go 6-1 at home this week and everything is fine again.
  18. HOLD ONTO THE BALL YOU FREAKING MORANS I hate you Lilly
  19. I hate you Theriot. Cedeno would have held onto that. Lilly, just leave
  20. Gahhh....4 runs isn't going to be enough.
