  1. Dunno. Looking at google maps, it's 2 miles east of where 55 and 294 meet, and is north of Burbank, if that helps. Isn't it the brand new futbol field for the Fire? When he first mentioned the concert I was thinking that new place they put up when Daley razed Meigs Field. A car may be necessary for going out there, although I'd still probably take cabs for DUI prevention purposes. They should have put the Stadium somewhere other than Bridgeview. It was probably the cheapest place for them to build. I bet Bridgeview gave them a lot of incentive to build the park there. The move probably benefits the white suburban folk that like soccer but probably doesn't help the blue collar minorities that enjoy soccer who can't afford to drive to the game park and game tickets.
  2. You can either take the Blue line to downtown and then take the Red Line to Addison (will probably take 45 mins) or you can drive to DeVry at Addison and Western, park there for a small fee and take their shuttle to the game (will probably take 35-40 mins). 12:05 game should be over by 3:05. As you've probably discovered, Toyota Park is inaccessible by public transit I believe (there may be a bus line, but would not recommend it on the way home at night), so if you take the train back to your hotel and drive you will probably get to Toyota Park by 5-5:30. If you just drive you will get there earlier. Traffic is pretty bad during summer weekends in and around downtown though so be forewarned.
  3. I don't think you are giving him enough credit. He's not the Ted Lilly of last year (and to be honest, people that thought he would be are pretty naive ) but after his first 4 awful starts, his ERA is 3.82 with a 1.28 ERA. His career numbers are 4.48 and 1.34, so for the season, including his bad starts he's pretty much at his career numbers. Again, Ted Lilly is not a number 2 starter, but now that we have Harden in the mix, he makes a decent number 3-4 starter. You can bet that he will be our 3 starter in the playoffs if everyone is healthy because Lou will want a lefty.
  4. I believe it is because there is an age limit of 23 which means many stars can't take part. Which is why it isn't important to us. I am not sure what the restriction is, but it looks like MLB players can't participate.
  5. Our worst statistical starter vs. their second best. Advantage us
  6. Why wouldn't he? I don't see St. Clair beating him out, thats for sure.
  7. Why isn't Olympic soccer more important to other countries?
  8. Someone start Friday's game thread. I need something to look forward to.
  9. If you want to fix the All Star game and make it a legit "this time it counts", its simple. Other than the pitchers, manage the game like it was a real game. Starters play all game unless they are PH for in certain situations. Screw people's feelings. You are an All Star, who cares if you don't play. I'm sick of seeing ASG's decided by Nate McClouth and Ryan Ludwick instead of Albert Pujols and Lance Berkman. As for pitchers, its really stupid to have a starter throw 7 innings in the game, but the first 2-3 pitchers should be prepared to pitch 3 innings. If you're worried about overworking players in an exhibition game, make a rule to limit all pitchers PC to 50 pitches. This way when the 9th inning comes around you can actually have choices.
  10. *grabs a bucket of popcorn, sits down and waits for 2020*
  11. Worried? no. Disappointed? Yes Gotta get there first though.
  12. That entire AB was ruined with a horrible first pitch strike call
  13. Fukudome is not really wowing me tonight.
  14. Think Fuk and Soto get another AB or are they lifted for PHs?
  15. ok, 4 out inning. Theriot would have made that play
  16. I have a bad feeling about this AB with Bradley.
  17. Should have picked up that bat for Soto.
  18. He gave up a hit. Not good enough. He didn't want to show up Sheets too much. We already talked about this. Z set up the DP on purpose because he wanted to keep his middle IF alive
  19. It's too bad Reed Johnson isn't in this game.
  20. I swear, for a game about individual players, Buck does a really awful job talking about any of them except a select few.
  21. Dammit they didn't even show Z walking off the mound and pointing to the sky. They really need WGN to do these games.
