I was thinking the same thing too. Everytime one of these bozos make a guarantee against us I do tend to worry that they are gonna back it up with the most determined game of their lives.

The bulls had only 21 rebounds tonight which is the least in Bulls history. The old record was 25 so we shattered it tonight. They were out rebounded 44-21 tonight. Ouch.

Howard is such a big, physical guy that I wouldn't be surprised that a lot of contact that he makes is considered flagrant despite no intention. He's just so big making contact with him is different than making contact with someone like Tyson Chandler. I remember Shaq used to get the same complaints.

BTW, Burleson has a history of making crazy guarantees of victory. Last year, he guaranteed that his 3-5 Seahawks team would beat the 5-3 Cardinals in Arizona. I heard they were working out guys like JP Losman earlier in the week just so they could have someone thats played in the NFL there to back up Stanton. If we don't blow out this team, we are either looking ahead too much or there's something really wrong.

They project us losing the NE, Minny and GB games. But seriously, why is there a sentiment that the Vikings are all of a sudden a tough game? Because they dropped a whopping 17 on the Redskins? Coaching change. They think it's going to have the same results as it did in Dallas because the teams have similar talent. Of course, Dallas' momentum only lasted for 2 wins. 2 wins, plus a close loss to the Saints that they would have won if Roy Williams could catch the ball.

That would be weird to lose the Vikings as a division rival. No offense to the Lions but they are barely a rival at this point. As annoying as the 2 teams are, I look forward to the 4 annual meetings against the Packers and Vikings each year. The Rams wouldn't be the same.

Yeah there will definitely be some growing pains trying to adjust a dominating post presence into the lineup. Like all players, he has his tendencies, spots on the floor he likes the ball, etc. But I'm pretty sure Rose can run a fluid pick and roll. They should dominate from the start with that. I'm pretty sure the team will know to dump it into him if they are going through a scoring drought and see a smaller player switched onto him defensively. They will be able to immediately exploit that mismatch. Stuff like that will be fluid and should see an immediate bump. But yeah, they won't be perfectly fluid with him on the court for a little while. The biggest thing is that he hasn't even played in really any scrimage or preseason game with Boozer either. He was hurt 2-3 practices into training camp so its almost like we are almost making an in season trade for him. As much as the injury sucked, it will be cool that the first time I'll see him play in a Bulls uniform is not in a meaningless preseason game but right in the middle of the regular season most likely against a key opponent.

Also, the 08 Steelers offensive line was ranked 24th in the league and their pass blocking was 29th in the league with a 9.2% Adjusted Sack Rate. The Bears are 32nd with a 10.8 Adjusted Sack Rate. 9.2 is still pretty bad and would lead the NFL some years.

To get ahead of myself by a lot for just a minute...I bet it'd be a historically bad OL DVOA for a SB team...heh. At first I missed the OL part of your post and thought you meant just a historically bad overall DVOA for a SB team. And I'm sure not many 18th best DVOA teams make the SB, but wanted to point out the 08 Cardinals finished 21st in DVOA, which was -3.2 (the Bears are currently at -0.2)

A career year for Theriot will be an OPS of .750 while having no range at SS. I'm not worried about it. I dunno about that. Bill James is going to be introducing a new statistic to measure and predict the jump gritty white infielders should expect to receive by joining St. Louis. I think he calls it the Pixie Dust Effect (PDE). In his latest article, he predicts with PDE, Theriot should be expected to hit .404 OBP/.420 SLG/.824 OPS next year.

Bears improve to 18th in DVOA rankings. They still have a negative DVOA for the season but it has been trending upwards for several weeks now. 2 weeks ago they were 24th overall and now 18th. Their numbers rank the Bears offense 30th still. They've kind of been in this isle of suckatudes for awhile. The 29th and 31st teams have a huuuuge gap between them with the Bears almost right in the middle. So while they are playing better, they still haven't played well enough to make up for the first 8-9 games. FYI the defense is rated 6th in the league and Special teams 3rd. The offensive line is 29th overall, with the pass blocking still dead last by a good margin but the number has improved so that it is not a historically bad number, but a average number for the last place team in a given year.

Pittsburgh won with a pretty weak line. They had more WR weapons to somewhat offset the problem, but it was a pretty big problem. Yeah I was gonna say, I remember that line being pretty bad. Of course I don't think we have a Santonio Holmes, much less a Hines Ward on our roster.

How in the hell does Miguel Tejada still deserve 6.5 million? For a .692 OPS? I'm assuming his defense isn't that great either at this age. You don't have a minor league prospect that can have a .650-.700 ops and good d in the majors for 500k? If these guys (Uribe and Tejada) are setting the market, we're in trouble.

DeRosa from what I remember was always complimentary of the Cubs when he was on the Cardinals and didn't seem to get involved in trash talking and the rivalry. Theriot is just a douche. He must have read NSBB too much and didn't like our opinions of him.
