  1. btw, after today Jay's QB rating for the year is up to 92.8. That's 12th in the league, but he's starting to get bunched up with a lot of guys who are within 2 points of him. A good game next week could get him into the top 10.
  2. I think we can beat them, but I don't know if we will. NE is definitely scary, but they are less scary than in years past. By that I mean they've looked beatable in several games this year. I definitely respect them though and recognize that they could easily whoop us.
  3. I think it is a little of both. Jay is not a good decision maker when under pressure. And the sky is clearly not blue. Seriously get real. He makes bad decisions under pressure but he also makes terrific decisions under pressure as well. I wouldn't say he's elite in terms of making good decisions under pressure but he's not a poor decision maker. It's like you only recollect the times he made bad decisions in your mind as they are a lot more glaring than when he makes good decisions, which is all the time. Cutler has constantly been under pressure this entire year and he's responded with a pretty good season.
  4. Yeah the Bears don't need to throw the deep ball a lot with their offense. They get big gains just as a part of the Martz style offense that gets the ball to receivers with room to run. How many times has a short slant route turned into a 35 yard gain.
  5. The Nationals make no sense. They are about 2-3 years (if their rebuilding plan goes right) from needing to sign a big named FA as a final piece. Having a guy making $15+ million on a 90 loss team makes no sense. And he's not even a big name/draw that will put fans in the seats, like you would expect by signing this type of contract.
  6. More like McDonough's mistakes. The story goes, Hendry wanted to offer 6 years, but McDonough told him to offer 8 years to seal the deal because he really wanted the Cubs to get a big name to help with the sale of the team.
  7. I don't think 10-6 is going to be good enough for some team. There's a slight chance 11-5 might not be good enough which is just insane.
  8. I agree, it was like a 7 yard penalty and it happened on 1st down. It's not like it was on 3rd down after a sack. Oh well let them frame the game however they want. We won and we're 9-3.
  9. Crazy that the prevailing thought around football is that you don't replace your coach in season unless its absolutely necessary. And it was followed to the point where the Vikings and Cowboys finally pulled the trigger too late to save the season. The result? A combined 5-1 record with the new coaches in place, and the 1 loss probably should have been a win to the previous years SB champs.
  10. Weird...so the trade fall apart, then the Cubs actually got back into the discussions and sorta made headway, but now Boston just sealed the deal and its over.
  11. Damn that's not good. It's just not our season...
  12. good point. I'd still rather Philly win the division and have NYG fight for the WC. We don't have the tiebreaker with them but the Giants and Eagles still play as well as the Giants and Packers. The Packers game is a game where we'll be able to gain ground on one of those teams. I'm cheering for Philly because if Philly beats the Giants, the Packers/Giants game (in GB) gives the Giants a good chance to lose 2 games. At worst they would lose that Philly game and then beat the Packers and help us in the division. The Bears magic number for the division is 4 I think. In the WC race, it's probably also 4.
  13. I think it's both. Throwing off your back foot is generally considered bad and has ruined many a qb (rex grossman). However some have made their careers having success throwing off their back foot. Cutler is one. He makes his share of bad throws from that position but he's also made many more awesome throws
  14. He's obviously not going to get that much, but yeah, pass. Why? That takes him to age 36. He is a premier offensive and defensive player. Passing on contracts like this every time means you never get them, because someone will pay it. I doubt the Cubs are signing anyone to 8 years deals anymore after the Soriano signing. Hendry didn't even want to go 8 years to Soriano, McDonough made him.
  15. I agree we benefit from having the Giants play 2 teams we're battling with. If they go 1-1 and we go 1-1 we're still up a game with 2 other games to go. If the Bears go 2-2, those 2 better be over Minnesota and Green Bay. If the Bears go 2-2 and the 1 of the wins is against GB, we clinch a playoff spot.
  16. I agree we benefit from having the Giants play 2 teams we're battling with. If they go 1-1 and we go 1-1 we're still up a game with 2 other games to go.
  17. Am I crazy for wanting to face the Giants again? A little bit if you watched our offensive line's performance today and remember the Giants D line.
  18. That was awful. It's gonna take at least 11 wins to secure a playoff spot in the NFC. Bears need to go 2-2 over the last 4 which means a guaranteed win over the 9-2 Pats, 9-2 Jets or 8-4 Packers in Lambeau.
  19. If and when the Saints win this, I am going to say that now it's gonna require 11 wins to feel safe about a playoff spot in the NFC.
  20. WOW....the Bengals really bungled that up. It was pretty obvious they were trying to draw someone offsides, and the Bengals did. Wow
  21. If that lack of a challenge costs us a playoff spot, it should still cost Lovie his job, even if we go 11-5 and don't make it.
  22. Up to the minute standings: With a Saints loss: East: Eagles 8-4 Giants 8-4 North: Bears 9-3 Packers 8-4 South: Falcons 9-2 (vs. TB at 3:15 PM) Saints 8-4 Buccaneers 7-4 (vs. ATL at 3:15 PM) West: Who cares? I think the Rams are still leading because only the 49ers have played so far 1. Falcons 9-2 2. Bears 9-3 3. Eagles 8-4 4. Rams 5-6 5. Giants 8-4 6. Saints 8-4 ---------------- 7. Packers 8-4 8. Buccaneers 7-4 I'm gonna cheer for the Falcons in the late game. I don't think the Bucs are good enough to win a playoff spot but I'd rather them not linger around. That way it will be 6 teams playing for 5 spots and only 1 be left out.
  23. you mean weak link? if he hadn't missed on those 5 passes the Bears would surely have won by 21 points He fumbled inside the 10, the Bears would have won a little more comfortably. Then again, if Jay Cutler wasn't [expletive] awesome the Bears would have lost easily.
  24. I hate how all my fantasy players are on NFC playoff contenders. Brees Vick Ivory Bradshaw Roddy White Tony Gonzalez I always find myself cheering for NFC contenders and then having to stop myself.
