  1. Yes, 2 on the South Side, but the rule for the Crosstown Cup is that in the event of a tie, whoever won the Crosstown Cup the year prior retains it. The Cubs have won 2 of the 4 games, thus retain the Crosstown Cup
  2. Also thank you to the White Sox for reminding me that as ****** as the last month as been things can be so so so so much worse
  3. Cubs win the Crosstown Cup for the 3rd consecutive year. They’ve now won it 7 times vs 8 for the White Sox. Maybe the Cubs would have been swept by any other team in baseball but I don’t care a win is a horsefeathers win and we’ve been desperate for them so Go Cubs!
  4. Wait I wasn't watching earlier in the game, why is Nico out of the game? Also terrible AB by Bote yikes
  5. I tried to mostly keep quiet when Happ was struggling and everyone wanted him booted off the team. Maybe I said a thing or two out of frustration but I thought the discourse was a bit over the top (not just here, Cubs Twitter was actually much worse). Don't get me wrong, Happ is a flawed player and I can totally understand people wishing we didn't extend him for a variety of reasons. But I always expected Happ to come back around this year and he clearly has. He's a solid major league hitter and has value to this team. We seemingly go through this cycle every year with Happ.
  6. C'mon Happ how about 2 days in a row with the go ahead hit late?
  7. Morel is a baller for finishing off that AB when he was clearly in severe pain. Hopefully he didn't fracture something
  8. How we have scored today: -Fielder's choice -Fielder's choice -Balk -Wild pitch -Sacrifice fly
  9. Same, when that ball was in the air I was thinking "I wish anyone other than Gomes was on 3B right now"
  10. OK, would have liked to have gotten a hit but ill take the tie. 2 runs scored without a hit.
  11. Runner on 3rd out outs and Seiya takes strike 3 right over the plate. Unreal. Now they’re a ground ball from causing me to lose it
  12. Tying run on 3rd with no out. Gonna lose if it we don't at least tie it
  13. I believe that is the first time Gomes has reached base since May 11. 0 for his last 21 PA before that walk
  14. That’s pretty much accurate and one of the funniest things about the Sox horrible season.
  15. I don’t now know about having no life to them but they are remarkably deficient in so many areas. I can’t believe how poorly these pieces fit together and how exposed the holes on the roster get on a daily basis.
  16. Just catching up, horsefeathers Gomes is 12-79 with a 47% strikeout rate. Even as a backup catcher that’s atrocious especially when you consider he’s last in the league in framing runs and terrible at throwing out runners. He should not be on a major league roster anymore. Sorry Yan
  17. Nick "0 barrels in Chicago this year" Madrigal:
  18. Busch is also rated significantly higher defensively. As much as I value a power bat in the Cubs lineup, I've never seen the appeal of Pete Alonso on the Cubs for a variety of reasons.
  19. OK then he's the 12th best starter we've faced this year by FIP. Not saying he can't be hit...he just gave up 4 runs in 5 IP to the Brewers last week (shocker). Just kind of in awe of how effective he's been after being such a below average dude in Washington.
  20. He's 7th in baseball in pitcher bWAR at 2.6. The only starter we've faced this year with a higher bWAR is Houck from Boston. Obviously pitcher WAR is flawed but at least by that metric he's really solid. Kind of crazy, another one of those mediocre/bad starters that goes overseas and comes back much improved. 5.41 career ERA in 6 seasons with Washington, now one of the best starters in baseball so far this year.
  21. I think they had to go rummaging through the equipment locker to find it
