  1. Final bump for this. Names are engraved on the Cup. Carbomb and Mayers made it:
  2. Me either. I think stafford is going to have a great day. Bears are 9-1 in their last 10 games against the Lions, and 7-1 with Stafford as the starting QB.
  3. Kinda surprised the line is Lions -3 in this one, which basically means Vegas has them as equals. Lions are coming off a 4-12 season and beat the 0-3 Vikings at home, lost to the 1-2 Cardinals on the road and then beat the 0-3 Redskins in Washington. The Bears have at least beaten a good Bengals team. Figured Vegas would have the line closer to pick em.
  4. Weird ranking system. Something nebulous and wishy-washy like "fan relations" is valued at nearly 10 times a more solid measure such as championships. I don't know about you, but win me a couple titles and you can have as crappy a website as you want. Isn't the ranking system based on fan surveys?
  5. That should shut up the Peppers talk for at least a week. Not that it wasn't warranted but it's good to see him step up. Also awesome to see Long leading the team. The rest of the line was awful just like it looked on TV except Bushrod.
  6. Cutler on his show during an answer about Trestman "....and if I am back next year...."
  7. Cutler has always done that while running. This story is going to get irritating. Why does Jay have such a rep for saying controversial things in interviews? Since he's been in Chicago he's been about as vanilla as they come. It's the way he acts as though reporters are as stupid as they really are in press conferences. Urlacher was always the giant [expletive] in pc's. He used to give one word answers like a total meathead ass. He never got the rep for being a jerk. Are you sure about that? I mean Urlacher got a lot of slack because the meatballs loved the whole "Bears football is all about defense and badass MLBs" thing about him but I know most people knew he was kind of a jackass. Like that year he just flat out refused to talk to the media except for Jay Glazer all because he was butt hurt about something.
  8. Completion% is the main stat I wanted to see greatly increased. It's not that it's the end-all, be-all stat, but a higher number likely means more open receivers (aka better offense designed to get guys open), less pressure (aka more time to hit open receivers), and obviously increased production comes with that. Well I should admit that Cutler's Yards Per Pass Attempt is currently at the 2nd lowest of his career (only 2009 was worse, which was his worst year as a pro imo). But I think that's by design for now. Quick drops, a focus on moving the chains, less downfield action unless the situation calls for it. It's resulted in a ton of high percentage, lower yardage throws. And for the most part its worked.
  9. Some hand picked Cutler stats: 4th in the NFL in completion % (67.3) T-4th in the NFL in TDs (6) 10th in the league in QB Rating (94.2) 3rd in the league in that ESPN QBR stat (78.1)
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-brad-biggs-10-thoughts-20130923,0,4459833.story This is true, but the defense definitely lost some dominance after losing Tommie. fake edit: Just looked it up, gave up 12.5 points allowed per game in the 12 games up to and including the game he got injured, and 24.6 points allowed in the 7 games after. Not that points allowed are the end all be all, and I'm not factoring any any of the points being Sexy Rexy gifts to the opposition, but thats a pretty big jump.
  11. Why so you say LB? Granted Anderson and Williams are one year deals, but we're deeper than we've been in years, including with youth. Definitely agree on DL and CB though. You can always use LB bodies though. Special teams takes up a few and given the body type that Emery covets, big fast freaks, LB is easy to take. Also, Briggs is 33 this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not on the Bears next season, and would be surprised if he is on the Bears in 2015. They may be deep today, but that depth is easily eroded. On the topic of LBs, are we going to give up on Shea as a DE and move him to LB? Does he still show any promise there?

  13. Not really I'm sure your comment is more about your opinion of Melton, but of course its a big blow to lose one of your starting DTs 3 games into the season. He may not be as great as his reputation but we will miss the depth for sure.
  14. The AFC is 0-2 against the Bears and 11-1 against the rest of the NFC, with the only loss being Jacksonville to Seattle.
  15. Last offseason. I think Emery is more than willing to let this season play out and then pay Jay accordingly. If he wins the Super Bowl, he gets a Flacco deal. If he comes up short, he gets something less. The Bears aren't at any risk of him bolting if they really want to keep him at all costs, correct? We can just franchise him?
  16. Kinda feel bad for Melton since he's playing with the Franchise Tag. Of course if he does have an ACL tear and misses the rest of the year, he would be easier to resign at a lower price.
  17. Ima keep going until they lose. Bears and Lions playing for the lead in the NFC North. With a win the Bears would be at least 2 games up on the rest of the division. With a loss they'd be tied with the Lions but behind in tiebreakers (yeah its early). I will be in attendance, so that's not good for our chances (bit of a losing streak recently), but this is a different era in Bears football, and of course its the Lions, so I like our chances.
  18. I was going to say that it felt like a 2006 era game, except we didn't really allow 400 yards in many games in 2006 (I think). Big point totals, offense had spurts of effectiveness but lots of ineffectiveness as well.
  19. In terms of positives, despite Melton being out, the D-Line has gotten a ton more pressure tonight.
  20. Funny thing is, we might potentially win by 17 on the road and while it wasn't awful it wasn't exactly a great win.
  21. Yay! Glad the offense could step up after being non-existent for 2.5 quarters
  22. So I guess we can't really be excited about the offensive line anymore...at least after this game.
  23. Trestman has turned into Ron Turner overnight.
