  1. I think Rick is just trolling Cubs fans. There is no way any sane person could have that collection of beliefs. Even the meatballiest fan in the world isn't that dumb.
  2. Pretty good albeit negative Cutler article analyzing his performance and potential worth after this season. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/mike-sando/post?id=1016 Insider but I'll include some snippets:
  3. The commish sure enjoyed himself last night: http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/191yp7gaf78zlpng/ku-medium.png
  4. So far 4 of the 6 "experts" on ESPN.com are picking the Bears. A dude on CBSsports.com is picking the Saints 30-24.
  5. I met a real live one last weekend in Windsor. He was drunk talking trash about one of the teams in the late 90s that went to the conference championship.
  6. Oh, ok. Good. Not really slamming on St. Louis with my response, but any game with Jacksonville is not one of the better games of the week. Jacksonville @ St. Louis is probably not even the best football game going on in the St. Louis area between 12-3 on Sunday.
  7. Michigan picks up 4 star wing, Kameron Chatman, #32 ranked player in 2014 class. Should be a pretty good replacement for GRIII after this year.
  8. Houston-SF is the Sunday night game, NYJ vs. ATL is the Monday night game. Also, while its not a national TV game, SD-Oakland was moved to AFTER Sunday Night Football because of the A's playoff game. It will be aired on the NFL Network.
  9. 14 regulation losses in our last 92 games including playoffs.
  10. Wow, I had no idea you could call a goal on that.
  11. And the loss of depth comes into play right off the bat.
  12. Gonna have to start calling that the Oduya Special
  13. Jesus Craw, is this how you celebrate your new contract?
  14. 2 power play goals allowed, boo
  15. Noticed that the Caps are making a conscious effort to go glove side whenever possible.
  16. Well, my memory is fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure our crowds were pretty awesome in 2003 before the 8th inning of Game 6. Let Pittsburgh go through a few of those and see if they don't turn into tight-asses too Yeah, the crowds were bonkers in 2003 and 2007. It was only with 2008 where they were a-scared. I feel like by the 5th bases loaded double play in '07 the crowd had died I was at that game 3 when Hill gave up the HR to Young on the first pitch. The crowd was dead as soon as that happened. It sucked tremendously. Yup, I was still walking to my seat. Stupid OPR
  17. The Division Series don't even start until Thursday and Friday, which means there is plenty of room to fit a 3-game series. There is no reason to let 1-game decide a "playoff" round in a sport that plays a 162 game regular season. 1. It was decided over those 162 games that you're stuck in the do or die situation. If you want a chance at a full series, win your division. 2. In the case of the AL this year, you'd have Tampa traveling from Toronto on Sunday to Arlington on Monday to Cleveland on Tuesday(then presumably) back to Tampa on Thursday, and then to Boston on Fridady. And needing to leave Monday open for tiebreakers/make-up games, you wouldn't be able to start any of the DS games on Thursday. I think you would feel differently if a 94-win Cubs team finished 2nd to the Cardinals and ended up losing the 1 game playoff to an 89-win 2nd Wild Card team. If anything, it was decided over 162 games that the Cubs were better than Team B, so why should one essentially random game decide who moves on? Sure, they could also lose a 3 game series, but that outcome would be a little easier to swallow. Of course I'd hate it if that scenario came true, but what if the Cubs were that 89 win team? The bottom line is I like the one game playoffs, and if the Cubs get screwed by it someday that's not going to change my opinion.
  18. 2007 was decent, but its hard to be bonkers when a) it was one game when the Cubs were down 0-2 and b) they were losing 1 pitch into the game. 2008 had the burden of having the best record in the NL and memories the sweep of the year before with many of the same players. The 2008 crowd was actually pretty good in game 1, especially when DeRosa hit the HR. And then Dempster started walking the bases loaded every inning and Loney happened and the crowd shut up and hasnt returned since.
  19. Bears DVOA, as you might expect, is coming back to Earth a bit. Dropped from 6th to 11th overall. Offense is 19th overall, which I guess is good relatively speaking. Defense is 11th and Special Teams are 18th. Last year the Bears were 6th overall, 26th on offense, 1st on defense and 6th on special teams. Wonder if losing the defensive and special teams coaching staff is hurting the Bears. The Bears have finished out of the top 10 in defensive DVOA only one time since 2003, and outside of the top 10 in special teams once since 2000.
  20. Boo. Trade everyone and start over.
  21. A "not really but kind of" power play goal!!
  22. Lebrun picked the Blues to win the division, but the Hawks to win the Cup. Probably thinking the Hawks have a Cup hangover but get a 4 seed and then turn it on in the playoffs.
  23. Ugh Mully and Hanley were throwing out some terrible names this morning, including Ozzie Guillen, Don Cooper and Bob Brenly.
