  1. Hah thats funny, I also had tickets to the last game of that season, and forced my dad to take me thinking/hoping the Cubs would still be alive in the WC race. Had a fun time at the game though. Went to the last game in 2004 as well hoping the same thing only to be eliminated the day before.
  2. How does somebody get into baseball late? If I wasn't obsessed with baseball as a kid in the 80s I probably never would have paid attention in my teens. I didn't care at all about sports until the rumors of Jordan coming back in spring of 95 got me amped up to watch the Bulls. The game he came back against the Pacers was the first sporting event I really watched and was interested in watching (I remember other games being on in the house but I didn't care all that much). That was when I was 12. Then the Bulls' season ended and the Cubs were having an OK year and the 95 season sucked me into baseball. Football was next that fall, with Kramer having that huge year throwing to Conway and Graham. I don't know which is more weird, getting into baseball late or being drawn into the Cubs during the mid-90s. Well the 95 team was in the wild card race until the last weekend...and then a couple years later the whole Wood and Sosa thing in 98 probably helped reel me in for good. I'll be honest, the 95 team pulled me away from the White Sox for good. I was kind of in the middle and really liked those early 90's Sox teams. Then the Cubs won me over with a strike shortened 73-71 season for some reason.
  3. Let's send people to jail for parking violations. That could help the unemployment rate too.
  4. I'm sure its already started, but I havent listened to much sports talk today other than 15 minutes of the Jay show.
  5. Also McCown was the 2nd highest rated QB in week 9, trailing only Brady.
  6. Really? That's early. Yeah, they are replaying at 5 as well. Guess he wanted to do it earlier. Ok...I'll just wait and listen to the podcast in the morning. Any meaningful updates on his injury status? No he was being very vague. Asked him about the report that he's aiming to come back against Detroit, he said he was aiming to come back from GB and that didn't happen, now he's aiming to get back for Detroit. Doesn't want to come back too early and re-injure himself and miss a month. Could all be chess games though to keep Lions on their toes
  7. Really? That's early. Yeah, they are replaying at 5 as well. Guess he wanted to do it earlier.
  8. Some of the grades I've seen on PFF: McCown +5.6 Slauson +5.2 (+4.7 run block - highest grade of his career) Bushrod +3.5 Marshall +3.3 Forte +3.0 Garza +2.4 Frey +1.9 ------------------ Conte -1.2 (-2.7 run) Paea -1.9 M. Bennett -2.7 McClellen -3.1 (-3.6 run) Mills -3.5 (-5.1 pass) Wright -4.3 (-4.7 run)
  9. Jay Cutler show starts now so we'll see what he says.
  10. Also in that article, McCarthy's onside kick call was the best decision of the week, and his clock management was the worst decision of the week....about the clock management:
  11. Barnwell elaborates more on Trestman's 4th down decision: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/81191/thank-you-for-not-coaching-week-9
  12. BTW, this was the 2nd time in the Bears last 3 trips to GB that the Packers were not called for a penalty.
  13. OK going over remaining schedules of teams we're probably competing with for playoff spots: Lions (5-3): @ Bears - L @ Pitt - W vs. TB - W vs. GB - L if Rodgers is back @ PHI - W vs. BAL - W vs. NYG - W @ MIN - L (they are going to lose one they shouldnt along the way) 10-6 Packers (5-3): vs. PHI - W @ NYG - L vs. MIN - W @ DET - W vs. ATL - W @ DAL - L (again, losing one they shouldn't) vs. PIT - W @ CHI - W 11-5 Panthers (5-3): @ SF - L vs. NE - W @ MIA - W vs. TB - W @ NO - L vs. NYJ - W vs. NO - L @ ATL - W 10-6 Bears (5-3): vs. DET - W vs. BAL - L (briggs not back, ray rice field day) @ STL - W @ MIN - W vs. DAL - L @ CLE - W @ PHI - W vs. GB - L 10-6 Could include Arizona, Philly and Washington but whatever. Panthers, Bears and Lions tie for wild card at 10-6. Bears take the Lions on tiebreaker, and take the Panthers by having a 4-1 record in common games vs. 3-2 for Carolina. Sorry I'm bored
  14. *vomit* http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/195ezbsd9nkkhjpg/ku-xlarge.jpg of course you know where they stole this idea from:
  15. gooney saw it coming What? Is this about the silly thinking that what the offense did yesterday was shocking? Because it wasn't shocking. Anybody who pretends it was just hasn't paid attention to the Bears this season. That was going to be a high scoring loss until Rodgers went down. Instead it was a medium scoring win. McCown barely completed 50% of his passes and was under 300 yards with 2 touchdowns. It was against a weak pass defense and they still relied on Matt Forte very heavily. And why do people put an "e" in there? The funny thing is, there have been several times in the past where I've went to reference you and had to go to NSBB's user list to confirm that there was no e in there. plus you aren't goony, you're his evil twin.
  16. Packers fans were unusually quite in this thread
  17. On Deck 2014 - Season Ticket Holder presentation with Theo and Crane Kenney. Oh, didn't know about that. I have a couple extra passes if people are interested. Saturday at 4 i think. Is it at Wrigley?
  18. Chargers, Broncos and Chiefs are 1-2-3 in hardest schedule remaining. This is what I'm looking at: NFC: http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nfcsosrg.html AFC: http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/afcsosrg.html
  19. Yup....they have the easiest remaining schedule. Luckily the Bears schedule isn't much more difficult, I think its 5th easiest
  20. That's probably 1-2 or 2-1. ESPN said last night that the Packers have the second easiest remaining schedule in the NFL
  21. Regarding the decision to go for it from the 35 yard line in the 4th...
  22. This will be a tough one. It's at home and the Bears have a little momentum, but if Cutler does come back he'll probably have to do even better than McCown did yesterday to win. If Lacy and Starks ran at will against us with the Bears stacking 8 in the box to stop them, I am worried about how we can handle Reggie Bush with Stafford and CJ there to keep us honest. Last time it didn't work so well and that was with Briggs (but without Paea). [expletive] it I'm drinking Kool-aid, Bears 30 Lions 28
  23. Kudos to the offensive line yesterday, especially pass blocking. I don't know how it will grade out but to the untrained eye they did a great job of keeping a pocket for McCown to throw. I mean way to step up with your backup out there on the road in primetime, the line needed to step up and it did. Makes things a lot easier.
  24. my fantasy season is worth a Bears victory and a Packers falter
