  1. Is he inching back into the system's top 15-20? .286/.342/.571/.914 in his last 18 games (since 7/1)
  2. It's a bit odd to see that we have almost as much committed to the 2019 roster as we do to 2015 (~4m difference)
  3. even though the cubs have acknowledged they have money to spend in the offseason, I can already see all the momentum going towards the Cubs making Lester their FA centerpiece and then getting outbid from a team like the Yankees that ridiculously overpays.
  4. For those who are smarter than me, looking at the big Royals prospects from a few years ago, it looks like they are all disappointing MLB players. Myers still has time before I'd label him a bust, Hosmer had a pretty good year last year, though not to the degree the fans were hoping his ceiling is and has fallen off this year. Moustakas sucks. Anyways, looking at their minor league numbers, all 3 of them were tearing it up to a degree just below what Bryant is doing this year. I guess my question is, what makes this Cubs group different if anything (other than just sheer volume of high quality prospects and better coaching/development in Cubs org)?
  5. I was only 12 in 1995, I don't remember hating any Cubs, they were still all superheroes to me Brant Brown in 1998 taught me hate
  6. Gotta love Jaxons infamous blowup inning.
  7. Oh dear....Dusty Thibodeau
  8. idiotic, wouldnt it have been mutually beneficial for the lakers to have accepted him in a S+T for Gasol? unless i'm missing something in terms of scenarios linked with other moves, isn't it better for LA to pay him less? From LAs perspective it's a large expiring and the Bulls probably would have thrown an asset in to get the deal done. Then again all that would have done is given the bulls the ability to use the MLE and LLE. The MLE would have gone to mirotic and the LLE would have gone to Hinrich, but I think they would have had another exemption they could have used in that scenario
  9. idiotic, wouldnt it have been mutually beneficial for the lakers to have accepted him in a S+T for Gasol?
  10. Seriously....11 players on the roster, 7 of them are white or partially white (Noah)
  11. All-2018 fantasy team has Baez and Bryant at 2B and 3B respectively, Rizzo, Castro and Soler as "best of the rest" at 1B, SS and OF, Schwarber as a sleeper choice for OF, and Russell as a notable exclusion at SS (because his value is propped up by his glove and not as much fantasy according to the writer) http://espn.go.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/id/11223359/mike-trout-kris-bryant-clayton-kershaw-lead-all-2018-fantasy-team
  12. Record as starter: 1-0
  13. Found it! http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f19/TheMojoPin/Nomartorehissac.jpg Man, I had a lot of time on my hands: holy cow haha. the only ones i actually remember seeing are the bush/dusty and the nomar one. I remember the Nomar one, the Dusty one, the DLee one, Aramis, and the Japanese Fukudome thing. That was a blast from the past.
  14. Lets bring them all up in May Alcantara, CF Russell, SS Bryant, LF Rizzo, 1B Baez, 3B Soler, RF Castro, 2B Castillo, C That should be our approximate lineup from May on.
  15. Orton hate was so weird. I thought he was actually going to be a decent QB after the start of the 2008 season. He had solid numbers until he had that high ankle sprain halfway through the season (62% comp %, 10 TD - 4 INT, 1,669 passing yards through 7 games). But I guess part of my like at the time was that I thought he was still projectable and was going to get better. But he never got over the hump. In Denver he got the reputation of being a 20-20 guy (ok Bill Simmons started that but it made sense). Could get you from your own 20 to the opponents 20 but wasn't talented enough to finish drives on shorter fields. Eventually he just faded away.
  16. Russell 0-4 down to .194 BA Soler PH and had an RBI single
  17. Looking at the East, I see 7 teams that could conceivably win the conference. I'm probably overrating some of them, but with so much shuffling of power, I think the gap between these 7 teams is small. 7 teams: Indiana, Miami, Chicago, Cleveland, Charlotte, Washington, Toronto I'd be willing to drop Charlotte, that's a bit of a reach, and maybe Washington, but the other 5 I definitely think are legit.
  18. I can't wait until Baez and Bryant are striking out in All Star games
  19. Great showing Cobs
  20. His name used to be Mike. What did you expect? I had him in fantasy baseball when he was Mike Stanton (I think he was like 20 that year). Anyways, then I pictured him as a massive power hitting pasty young white guy that looked exactly like former reliever Mike Stanton. Wow this entire chain of conversation is accurate for me. I pictured him as a hitting mike Stanton until I learned he was Giancarlo then I thought he was someone who could barely speak English and because he plays in obscure Miami I assumed he had no personality because you don't hear much from him.
  21. This time it counts doesn't include replay?
  22. Better not get some Cardinal scumbag starting when the Cubs are good enough to compete for a world series
