  1. Looks like they are done for today. 1/4 complete. If they follow that pace it will be done on Friday.
  2. I was going to make a joke like 'because they outscored their opponents in ~55.6% of their games this year" but I figured it would get nothing but groans.
  3. Javy makes a positive contribution
  4. all star break? wtf are they worried about this court decision or what? shouldn't take nearly that long to put up. Right...look how quickly the LF board is going up. Something fishy here
  5. Apparently it's going up fast:
  6. Maybe its like those encyclopedia sets that they use to advertise when I was a kid. "For only 12 installments of $19.95, you will receive a new and exciting panel each month to add to your collection."
  7. Guys stop swearing or else Eric Patterson will stop doing interviews with us
  8. Hmm...looks smaller than I thought. I think PTR got fleeced.
  9. Yup they still have a game in hand on Winnipeg and 2 points behind. I just cannot fathom LA not making the playoffs. They should be in playoff mode right now but they looked terrible tonight.
  10. approximately the same as his odds of being killed or seriously injured in some sort of accident. So his odds of being traded to St Louis basically?
  11. The Hawks need every ROW they can get. They lose that tie breaker to everyone they would likely be tied with except the Jets. Good point. But they could have won in OT, given Winnipeg a point and gotten an ROW. Don't get me wrong I'm fine with them winning in regulation. 2 points is 2 points! Just would love to see LA not make it. But in looking at the standings, LAs more concerned with finishing 3rd in the Pacific than the Wild Card.
  12. Great finish and win. Although I wouldn't have minded winning in OT to give Winnipeg an extra point to hurt LAs playoff chances slightly
  13. Maybe the Hawks are trying to tank themselves into the Pacific bracket
  14. I think he had 5 hits in his 2 games prior to this
  15. Holy hell. Apparently after looking at all the good candidates and not a lot of competition for coaches, DePaul dug deep and it looks like they are going to rehire....Dave Leitao? Let's recap...Leitao starts building somewhat of a decent program, getting them to the NCAA tournament and having them competing in their conference. He ditches them to head to Virginia, where he falls flat on his face and is fired after 4 bad years. He resurfaced 2 years later to coach a freaking NBADL team in Maine before heading back as an assistant at Missouri. He is now an assistant at freaking Tulsa and is putting his tail between his legs to come back to DePaul. He's older (54), he has had basically one season of success since leaving UConn, has no ties to Chicago other than his time at DePaul and this is the hire DePaul feels it needs to make? The scary thing is the possibility that none of the other names talked about have expressed interest in DePaul.
  16. Getting closer... http://i.imgur.com/rSyXk8d.jpg
  17. Random question but why does ESPN care so much about the Cricket World Cup? I go on ESPN.com this morning and this is the main front page story, over Kentucky-Notre Dame? Seems odd for an American sports website, considering virtually no Americans know anything about or care about cricket.
  18. Jake is going to be an All Star this year. Book it.
  19. Hawks look like [expletive] again Luckily the score doesn't show it
  20. There's a small chance that a coach with the right personality and commitment to the program could stay. DePaul is nothing right now but of decent years and the new stadium and there might be a buzz. I honestly think with the right coach DePaul has enough talent to compete for the NCAA tourney. If they can get that buzz back, however small you have a good team in a top flight conference. There are definitely better and higher profile conferences but the gap between the Big East and the Big 10 is a lot smaller than the Horizon league and Big Ten.
  21. I did the Brian Campbell Poker for charity in 2011 at the Horseshoe. Every player gets a current Hawk at their table, I drew Nick Boynton. He was dating that Jen Patterson from the Mike North show at the time, and she kept coming over to him asking for a $100 bill to go play roulette. He finally got fed up after about the 5th time, and went off on her. They I believe are now married. I thought you were going to say he got fed up and bit her hand. Also lucky you for drawing Boynton
  22. It's not totally Cubs history, but Crazy '08 was awesome. Damnit, I totally was expecting something about 2008 I read a mostly terrible book about the 2008 Cubs. Living the Dream: An Inside Account of the 2008 Cubs Season. I might need to read it again, I read it too soon after the 2008 NLDS. I would probably enjoy it more now. I can't recommend a good Cubs book, but I can recommend a couple other Cubs books not to read: Wrigleyworld: Not a terrible book but also not a good book. It's about a guy that moves to Wrigleyville and chronicles the 2005 season. A not so memorable book for a not so memorable season. Entangled in Ivy: Again, I didn't hate this book, but didn't love it. I know people don't like George Castle at all, but it was a somewhat interesting read at all the problems the Cubs have had building a consistent winner from ~early 1980s to ~2003. As a child I followed the Cubs but didn't know a lot of the behind the scenes stories of those years.
  23. That's a good reason too.
  24. Me too but part of me fears we've entered into a whole new era of umpire bashing. How is this possibly something you would "fear." Because its all we will hear about. Everyone knows every umpire has their own strike zone, and it sucks and we wish they would just use the technology available to calls balls and strikes. But I don't see the MLB doing anything about it, so all this will lead to is nonstop bitching about every single borderline call. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
  25. Is there a chance he might be forced to sell given this?
