    Kawhi Leonard? Marc Gasol maybe? Obvious one that comes to mind that isn't very recent is Arenas. Marc Gasol is a good one. He was always a project with upside, but I don't think the Lakers had any idea he would become an all-star when he was included as a throw in for Pau Gasol. I don't think Leonard or Arenas count, at least with how I'm interpreting the question as a player who had been in the NBA a few years and was clearly not thought of as an all-star or had the ability to become an all-star, suddenly becoming one.

    That's fine it just makes them look like idiots when they do it as he's shutting them out and putting them on the brink of elimination.

    Because Kyrie is a league mandated superstar, was the number 1 pick, is a little flashier, and LeBron chose to play with him so he must be awesome. Jimmy is like an upstart...last pick of the first round, spent his first 3 years as a 3D guy, wasn't ever expected to be a star by the general public until this year, and is only now starting to change the perception. People recognize him as good, but it will take some time to be considered great. The crazy thing about Butler is that he started the year on a tear, and I think he's actually gotten better at the end of the season. At midseason I thought he was a star but not going to be the kind of star you feed the ball to down the stretch to make things happen...but its happened multiple times this playoffs, alternating with Rose, and he's delivered.

    As discussed in either a Cubs or the Bulls thread I dont think Chicago fans can criticize other cities for going dead silent at the first sign of doom. The Crawford chants were idiotic considering the game situation though.

    I always looked at annual contenders in recent years like the Patriots, Red Wings, Heat etc and wondered if it's just less fun when your team is going far in the playoffs every year. The answer is: it's not less fun at all.

    I wish Soler and Bryant didnt have a combined 2 HRs this season, both hit in one game.

    You'd like to win all of them, but yeah this one will be the most difficult to win. If we win, great, if we lose just don't lose badly and give them momentum.

    Any line changes in the morning skate? I shouldn't be worried about this but there's always the fear that Q will bench Teuvo. He had a great game on Sunday so hopefully he's earned some rope from Q.

    No I don't believe that. I would believe the assistant coach made a joke about it and Woj presented it as if he was serious. I used to like Woj but the dude has his agendas and has a hard time writing articles that don't reveal his bias. I know a lot of writers do that, but a lot of people anoint Woj as the gospel of the NBA.

    Might want to check your math there. Well this seems completely sensible. There has been so much losing that i forget who beat us, yeah i shoulda said Dodgers. I first found this msg board back when i was in college so maybe 01 or 02? been a long time anyways... NSBB wasn't created until 2003.... Are you going to run away again at the first sign of trouble?

    Jimmy Butler's postseason so far: 24.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.1 APG, 2.6 SPG, .471 FG%, .395 3P%, 7.0 FTA/G The counting stats are a little devalued when you realize he's playing 43 MPG, but apparently he's also leading the entire NBA in postseason winshares so far (1.6 in 7 games)

    With the cavet that I've been known to freak out irrationally in the past and will probably do it again before the month is out and be called out, is this really worth freaking out about? It's May 5th. Yes we want to win the division but whatever, I just care that we are good and we're going to likely be good and in contention this entire year. We are 13-11, and this despite our offense, which is supposed to be one of our strengths, being middle of the road. You would expect our prospects to improve as the season goes along. Between Soler, Bryant, Alcantara, Russell and Baez, we will get significant contributions from several of them before the year is out. The bullpen has been mediocre, but without Grimm and Ramirez, both who will be back. I trust that we will have a solid established bullpen before all is said and done. It sucks losing to the Cardinals and Brewers, and sucks badly to lose the way we did last night but lets not lose sight of the big picture. It's a long season and its simply not healthy to get too upset about 3 games in early May, when overall the results have been pretty good.
