I guess thats why they signed Cumiskey Really going to test our blue line depth Apparently the Hawks were already trying to trade for a defenseman and I'm guessing they will speed up that pursuit. Damn that's killer. The goal should be to not drop very far behind in the playoff race. I know its early but you don't want to dig a big hole that will be tough to get out of.

Jake gave up a HR that Statcast claimed was just this side of impossible given the exit velocity for half his runs. He was fine. We're probably not getting God mode Arrieta if we get to Game 6, but the hand-wringing over him is probably a bit overblown right now. This is true but its not like he was God Mode sharp and just had one bad luck HR. He had 97 pitches through 5 innings. He didnt walk a lot of batters but his control wasnt great at all and was consistently getting behind hitters. That said, he didnt give up a lot of hard contact other than Wright's double, and after Murphy's fluke HR he went 5IP, 1H, 1ER and the 1 hit was an IF single

is this supposed to make me feel better Yeah we got good contact off him in Game 1 and Lester is our second best pitcher. The challenge is to get through the Hendricks/Hammel starts and still be competitive in the series.

If we get this to 2-1, that's a huge battle in the momentum in the series. I think we kill Matz and Hammel/pen does enough to even up the series. Then its Lester vs. Harvey again. If we lose game 3, we have no momentum and will have to hope fortune is on our side to make it a series.

The cubs have had numerous points this season and playoffs where many thought 'yep here come the same old Cubs' and every single time they've proven that this team is different. This is another opportunity to prove it. They might not, but I have full confidence that they can. Lets do this!
