No chance the Cubs offer the money Soto will want. The Cubs have not spent on that kind of money on a single player ever and Ricketts hasn’t even tried for the top of the class free agents. They are just too pricey for him.

It really is amazing how many holes this team had with the amount of money they have spent. They went into the season with question marks at 1B, 3B, and catcher and had a substandard pen and only want to go over the tax if they are close to the playoffs at the trading deadline. Well now it won’t matter because this is a 3rd place team.
