  1. Patterson had a .254 OBP and Z had a .300 average and OBP. I guess Z had to work a little more at camp on taking walks. :D
  2. If he dos that lefty-righty crap with Murton and Grissom, well I don't know what I will do. Hendry why did you give Dusty this guy? According to cubsfun they had to exhume Grissom. Ahhhhhhh!
  3. Z definately looks slimmer. I heard him say he wanted to lose 20 pounds and I am realy glad that he took the initiative. Watch him get hurt now though. But he has been the best Cub pitcher the last two years. Doesn't get recognition, but I am fine with him flying under the radar. I think he has a good of a shot as anyone to win the Cy Young in 06. Good hitter too. Didn't have have a better average or OBP than Paterson last year?
  4. Today, when asked if the Sox can field a team similar to the Sox, Dusty said no. Each team is different and they don't have the same personnel. If they were a model to replicate, don't you think every team would follow it according to Dusty. In esponse, the White Sox won through pitching, defense, and timely hitting. They were a solid team. The Cubs could have a strong pitching staff, have a much improved pen, and certainly can hit. At least as good as the Sox did last year hitting wise. Dusty needs to stress fundamentals at camp and all year long.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/powerranking?season=2006&week=1 Kind of pointless if you ask me this early in the season. Brewers at number 12 huh. Girardi has a rule where the guys can't grow facial hair? I guess he is trying to get on the bad side of the players sicne he is going to come to Chicago next season as manager now that he knows he can't win after the Marlins fire sale.
  6. He also had the good fortune of Bobby Jenks coming in and kicking tail out of the bullpen. Without Jenks, I'm not sure how well the White Sox would have done in the playoffs. Yeah but a lot of managers wouldn't have put Jenks in the closer role in the first place. He could have put Hermanson back in once he got healthy. When did Hermanson come back? I distinctly remember watching Hermanson blow a 9th inning against the Royals near the end of the season, right before I left the rec center. Hermanson didn't pitch at the end of the year at all. I am not sure if he even pitched during the playoffs. Ozzie got a contract extnesion during a plane ride near midseason. He came very cheaply. I don't even think it was 2 million a year. You really can't say he is rich in the sense that he tried to get a huge whopping contract.
  7. This is from the guy who says Prior is not an injury risk.
  8. He has no one ot blame but himself.
  9. goes off again in the SI interview. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2332682 I still would take him over Baker in a heartbeat.
  10. My favorite is definately the Rey Sanchez call. Stone was like, "Harry I think he just dropped the ball" and Harry said, "Well, what do you know, he did!"
  11. Frank Thoams was and still might be a great player, but he just looks flat out terrible in a hat. Not that it matters, but still.
  12. I didn't know the Cubs were playing meaningful games in 2000.
  13. No. I don't really know what is going on with Bonds. I was just trying to get some discussion going.
  14. Maybe he is smarter than you are giving him credit for and did this so that you will raise the exact question you mentioned.
  15. We all really know why he dropped out...tough steriod screenings.
  16. If Perez is going to play, I want Cedeno playing. I don't want Walker and Perez playing with Cedeno rotting on the bench. Perez played gold glove caliber defense last year. Throw Cedeno in at second. But the Cubs could use more left-handed pop.
  17. The White Sox are that far down? On paper, they are an improved team. I know it is tough to repeat, but I think they deserve more respect than that.
  18. How much do one of those go for? 150,000?
  19. Speaking of amphetmaines, I also heard on the SCORE with Murf that they cannot make you a better baseball player, they only make your bad days less bad. Is that true?
  20. I am not sure if this has been discussed yet, but B/B on the SCORE today mentioned that amphetamines are an ingredient in 1 of 2 of the main drugs used to treat ADD. Would this new ban effect Eyre or could he get a waiver because he uses the pills for medical purposes? If the league says yes it could open the doors to an array of other people trying to get behind the new rule.
  21. Was anyone listening the the SCORE today with Murph where he had on a local Chicago businessman who wanted to buy the Cubs in '81 and actually outbid the Tribune Co. and is interested this time around too if the Tribune Co wishes to sell? What was the jist of the interview?
  22. I rememebr this summer when Cuban said he'd like to own the Cubs....I about fell out of my chair. Big time payroll does NOT equal a good team ala this year's Cubs. I wouldnt mind Cuban being the owner, but you need quality playes, not just big time money players.
  23. Would that make Derek Lee the best overall hitter in the league?
  24. I am watching the Sax game on WGN before the game got on ESPN because of the NL game and the color was fine. Then when it switched over to WGN and ESPN the WGN color went fuzzy. Did ESPN do that on purpose to get people to watch it on ESPN and catch their commercials? Are they allowed to make the WGN feed off-color?
