  1. Ellis is All-Star quality. Injuries have kept him down. Baron Davis was never an All-Star?
  2. I'm concerned Tyrus is one of those guys who you trade and then he wakes up and becomes a good player. But you have to trade him for him to get the message, so he'll continue to be inconsistent with the Bulls. Argh. Just like Cedric Benson (except that he wasn't traded). It's true that the Bulls haven't had an All-Star since the Jordan years right?
  3. And they've still thoroughly outperformed the Cubs during the Hendry era. And won a World Series.
  4. That is load of bad over-the-hill baseball players. Add Rios to that mix and Williams has made some terrible moves in the last 6 months. But you still have to give the guy credit for pulling the trigger on a number of good moves, especially around 2005. Garcia, Contreras, El Duke, bringing up Jenks, trading McCarthy, and trading Rowand. Kenny is not the kind of guy who just sits around. He is willing to wheel and deal.
  5. The statement that McGwire released was the right approach. The live interview with Costas was absolutely wrong headed. He blamed the MLB for not doing steroid testing because that enabled him to shoot up. That's Mark McGwire - still not taking responsibility for himself. He is right in that steroids don't give you hand-eye coordination. But they give you strength and power and McGwire knows it. Dan Bernstein made a good point today. McGwire said that he took steroids to help him recover from injuries. But the steroids contributed to his injuries in the first place and he had to know that. McGwire is either dumb or lying. Maybe both. I haven't seen the whole interview, but Costas has been one of the most outspoken opponents of steroids. Did he press McGwire at all or was he afraid of a 250, I mean at present 200 pound man crying his lying eyes out?
  6. Bobby Knight is about as bad. He said that since Gatorade enhances performance, baseball players should be able to use equine steroids.
  7. That and saying he had to do steroids because that was the 'era' is going to piss off the HOF voters still. If he came out to try to save his HOF chances, it might just add fuel to the fire.
  8. Absolutely He definitely is. He has been blessed with unbelievable talent around him, but two MVPs, a bunch of Super Bowl appearances, and he holds a number of the top passing records in the playoffs.
  9. Bad enough to have a spot for Ben Wallace on their roster.
  10. I was going to say that but you beat me to it. Maddux is definitely the type of great player who you could see becoming a great GM or manager but great players don't seem to do well in those roles. I just don't think they can relate to a majority of players because it was always so easy for them. Jordan would be a great example. Greatest player ever IMO but can't evaluate talent worth a lick. Jerry West is the only great player that could really evaluate talent that I can think of.
  11. Why was he not in a position to come out when he was before Congress?
  12. I guess Jim forgot about the rule that says never hire someone who could take your job
  13. You try running behind Olin Kreutz. You try running when you have little or no desire to do so. I still think Benson was never going to work out in Chicago, even behind a good line. Actually, he had a decent line with the Bears. He needed a wakeup call - being perilously close to never playing in the NFL again.
  14. How ND fans put up with his horrible broadcasting is beyond me. This is truly terrible broadcasting. Gibbs makes Theisman sound decent.
  15. My picks: Bengals, Cowboys, Patriots, Cardinals With the spread: Bengals, Eagles, Patriots, Cardinals
  16. Won't they have to at least pretend to adhere to the Rooney Rule? If I was a minority coaching candidate, I would stick it to Seattle and not grant them an interview.
  17. I am forgetting football rules, but is a shovel pass a live ball if the guy dropped it and it hit the ground? Last night was the first time I have seen a fair catch off a kickoff. Can you even call a fair catch off a kickoff?
  18. I'm sure Dan never said he was certain that the Bulls would get Kobe. Did Dan run this newest rumor by Terry and "his guy"? Terry's guy is the one who tells us after a big story breaks that he knew it would happen all along.
  19. Am I the only one who thinks that the Cowboys are going to win this weekend?
  20. The Bobcats. And it was a smart move.
  21. He was wide open. He was going to get a better look than Derrick was.
  22. Because Kirk Hinrich was wide open, and it was a point blank 15 foot shot and hes the shooting guard and....how the hell did he miss that shot? That's as close of a gimme as a jump shot can be. I'm sorry if you can't trust your starting SG to hit a 15 foot jumper uncontested and point blank in the clutch, you have big problems. That's not even getting into his wide open 3 pointer he also missed. He's horrible and getting worse every year. So Hinrich is starter? I thought he was demoted. Or was he recently promoted? Hinrich has been starting for a few games (4-5 if I remember correctly). I think Vinny is going with (what was) the hot lineup. Hinrich was wide open on that play, but why in the world was Derrick inbounding the ball with 25 seconds left and down two points, especially after he has been scoring on nearly every opportunity? What coach lets his best player inbound the ball with 25 seconds left? Does Vinny know Derrick is his best player? For some reason, Vinny consistently doesn't call up plays for Derrick in the closing minutes. Vinny also failed to call a timeout with 30 seconds or so left after the Bobcats made a free throw, and the ensuing possession was sloppy.
  23. Well, if the Bears are stuck with Lovie another year, at least Cowher will still be out there. I know some of you (gooney) aren't going to be as happy about that as some. That was smart of Cowher. None of the available jobs are really any good. He probably makes a million or so to give 5 20 second blurbs a week. I hope he wants the Bears job next year.
  24. I'd love to know how long GT's 2 minute drill takes. 4 minutes? 6? Stupid question. GT's 2 minute drill takes about 45 seconds because it can't get a first down. Nesbitt did look out of place in the two-minute drill, but I am pretty sure Georgia Tech is right at the top of the NCAA in terms of the number of 40 yard+ plays/TD plays.
  25. I can't remember what happened at the press conference last year, but did the management demand the Bears make the playoffs in 2009 or serious changes would have taken place?
