  1. If the Vikings lose Sunday and Favre is bad again, you gotta make the switch to Jackson. The Vikings aren't going anywhere if they lose and you have to see what you have with Tavaris. On the other hand, I don't see why Reid made the switch to Vick for week three. Anyone can tear up the Lions' secondary. I don't understand what made him change his mind over the course of one day between weeks. This is a rebuilding year for Philly and Vick won't get you a Super Bowl. But Kolb, at least if he totally tops out, has a better chance of doing so.
  2. Good run defense, bad run offense. The Cowboys are exhibit number one as to why you can't absolutely rely on the pass.
  3. Peppers is no good if he gets double-teamed and no one can beat their man one on one. Harris has to be able to do that.
  4. Without getting to Romo, I thought the Bears would have no shot. But they got turnovers and didn't turn the ball over. I'm not sure what the line did different or if the Cowboys played more safe, but the line was seriously improved from the second quarter on. When you only go 1-11 on third down, you rarely win. But the Bears did. Great game. I really have to hand it to Martz today. I am really thinking that if the lien is even average, this offense could be hard to stop.
  5. Having two of theirs stars holding out doesn't help either. The decline of Merriman couldn't help either.
  6. I still don't think Zambrano is back until he cracks 90 on the gun
  7. How would you rate the competition Nadal is facing compared to the competition Federer faced in route to his grand slam total?
  8. Who the hell is asking for more blitzing? I don't mind mixing up coverage and putting on a blitz. However, if you're picking whom you're going to leave on an island, don't isolate your corner who is matched up against Calvin Johnson. Especially on a play when you know it is going to be a jump ball in the end zone and Johnson has the best chance of anyone to beat you. I think the media and fans have encouraged Lovie to pressure the QB more by blitzing because the front four hasn't put up consistent pressure (but blitzing doesn't really work well with the cover-two). But even if Lovie is wrong, there is no way he should succumb to media pressure if he is convinced he needs to blitz and then throw that back in our faces. He just looks so small saying that.
  9. PTI discussing whether Nadal could surpass Federer's grand slam total. That is going to be awfully hard. Even though Nadal is possibly the most fit person to ever play tennis, because he doesn't have a huge serve the points are so long and I think he will get worn out over time. How many grand slams did Federer have at Nadal's age?
  10. About time he did something.
  11. I wouldn't go that far, but I don't think 8-8 would shock me. The only reason I say that is because their division is garbage. True, but there are too many other good teams that will grab the Wild Card sports don't you think?
  12. 1402, 1312, 1119, 1210. Averaging about 9 TD's a season the last four years. You can say he has played with good lines, but he sure as heck isn't mediocre.
  13. Arenas stutter step right in the middle of the field. Nice. I remember when Devin Hester could make plays like that.
  14. So far the defenses are playing well in week 1. I doubt this trend will continue.
  15. So Nadal completes the career slam. Was this match even on TV?
  16. Iverson might play in China. His agent was quoted as saying ""What has Allen Iverson done to not warrant interest in him?" As Boers and Bernstein would ask, "Who ya crappin'?" http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5567983
  17. The Bears were fumble and mistake prone all game and the defense had been stout. Under those circumstances you kick the field goal.
  18. Mully from 670 pointed out that on the goal line play, the Bears carry 4 TEs and don't have a true FB. That made it hard to push it in. Clark is technically the FB.
  19. Bad offensive line play by the Cowboys. For the Bears' sake, I hope they are still injured. Peppers has to completely dominate for them to win.
  20. Wade Phillips has always been overmatched as a coach. He always has the deer in the headlights look in the sideline.
  21. Mike Mulligan points out that "Remarkably, Bowman confirmed the Bears were playing Cover-3 on that play, which effectively meant that Bowman was alone covering Johnson." http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/2701102,chicago-bears-victory-detroit-lions-mulligan-12.article
  22. Dallas scoreless so far. Let's hope they can't score next week too.
  23. Not when you are losing and could kick a field goal to take the lead and you were unsuccessful three times in a row before that. Lovie's call was bad in my opinion, but you can't let the offense off the hook either. They shouldn't have had to put Lovie in that position. 3 tries from the 6 inch line should get it done.
  24. Looks like the Redskins are really trying to be physical with Bryant. But that personal foul on Fletcher was crap. When he was in the air ready to hit Bryant, Bryant wasn't down yet. That was way too picky.
  25. Could the Bears somehow swing a deal for Mankins from the Pats?
