  1. Looks like no to Stevens. http://www.butlersports.com/sports/m-baskbl/2011-12/releases/032512aaa
  2. Definitely. Basically everyone (national media) loved the trade for the Bears. The thought that he was going to get cut definitely seems like spin from the Dolphins who are dealing with angry fans. However, even if he was cut, I would imagine that the Bears would have had to pay more in money than they are currently--or possibly miss out on him entirely if another team comes in with a better deal. I like that they basically secured getting the player for what wasn't a huge price.
  3. McDaniels is back in New England, that could be one possible source of influence. I could see the Patriots using him the way most people thought he could be useful coming out of college--in sort of a wildcat package. Maybe just a couple of plays a game. Maybe just in short yardage situations. I know Tebow never just wanted to be a wildcat QB, but the Patriots seem like the one team where players wouldn't argue. Belichick is thought of as a genius and I don't think Tebow would argue with him. Belichick also seems like he wants every possible tiny advantage he can get, and maybe he thinks that even for just 3-4 short yardage plays during a game that Tebow could give him an advantage. I can't imagine they would think of him as a serious option to be Brady's successor some day.
  4. are you sure about that? He would never eclipse him, but only because he only has a few years to play there maximum. However, I don't know if Peyton cares or if the Bronco fans do for that matter. I think everyone knows the situation. Peyton is always going to be a legend as a Colt. When he retires, everyone will think of him as a Colt. I don't think Bronco fans are going to be thinking about whether he eclipses John Elway, they will just be happy they have a great quarterback for a couple of years.
  5. I will say this again, Brown is amazing. I love his little phrases that seemingly take minutes for him to get out. "I tell you Chicago's a great town and these fans love the pro game" I really like Brown as well. The only thing that irritates me a bit, and I think he does it on purpose to squash any controversy, is his response to any borderline/bad calls. Any time there is a bad call and ESPN goes to the replay, he immediately says something like, "so that's an easy call, he got him with the left arm," when there is very very little contact if any at all. But I will always watch the national broadcast if I can. It makes it feel like a bigger game to me.
  6. Brady has been fantastic. It's just annoying the sheer number of football fans I know or hear who think that it just comes down to rings with these sorts of things. That said, at least Brady IS an excellent QB; Eli being the Manning with the most rings and providing fuel for such nonsense would be obscene. What I have found funny about the meatball argument that rings matter more than anything else (especially when it comes to Brady vs. Manning) is that Brady could be considered a poster-child for why that argument is flawed. Brady's career since his 3 titles is MUCH more impressive than his first few seasons. During his 3 Superbowl seasons he had 18, 23, and 28 touchdown passes and 12, 12 and 14 interceptions. His QB Ratings were roughly 86, 86, 93. Not that those are terrible numbers but he has had some crazy good seasons since then with no titles to show for it (many years without even a playoff win). So what would the meatballs argue? Is 2001-2005 Brady better than 2007-12 Brady?
