  1. btw, this thread should be titled "Albert Almora Out of Zone"
  2. He's already done more cool things in the week he's been up than Soler has the last two regular seasons combined.
  3. Jesse Rogers wrote in his article that Contreras would start maybe once a week. He has become a really good, trustworthy beat writer, but I'm sorry, they ain't calling him up in mid June to play once a week; maybe if this were later on in the season, but it's a little too early to make him a primary pinch hitter. I assume he'll be catching pretty much every non Arrieta/Lester start, maybe working his way toward handling Jake later on in the season. Also, aside from being fun news, this is a relief to me. The front office's desire to keep T-Fed around made me pretty uneasy that there was something they didn't like in Contreras. I know the line was it gave Maddon more flexibility to sub for his catchers in-game, but he really didn't do that; Fed just sat there and did nothing. But the fact that they called up Willson so early means they have faith in him, so yay!
  4. He was under 30 pitches. Warren's been a mixed bag and Richard is Richard. I have no issue with Cahill being left in there.
  5. Booing a free baserunner that is the tying run...smart fans
  6. Before today, I'd never noticed the creepy, weird way Zobrist keeps his mouth open while batting.
  7. lol, poor Szczur. Dude was doing great and now Almora has totally stolen his role.
  8. Praise be to Arrieta that Kris' cleat didn't stick into the ground, otherwise that's a broken ankle
  9. Jon Lester: Second Best LHP in Baseball?
  10. Since when was Bud Norris a pitcher that sat 95-96 mph? He looks extremely filthy tonight.
  11. I was hoping we'd get Wavin' Gary there. That's a pretty long throw for the second baseman.
  12. Today was the day I actually started taking 117 seriously with those articles that came out. So what I'm saying is, don't lose, Cubs.
  13. This dude and his 70% splitters isn't a good matchup for Javy. Please hang one!
  14. A ground ball with an exit velocity of 102 mph. exit velocity shmexit velocity
  15. Meh, that's a groundball, can't get on Richard too much for that. Now Miggy's refusal to do anything besides backhand breaking balls in the dirt, allowing a slow runner to get to 3rd, is a different story.
  16. Yeah I was hoping La Stella would bat that inning, so Almora could stay in. I assume he's done now.
  17. Yeah I'm very curious to see how good he grades out defensively. As long as Heyward and Fowler are healthy, he'll get most of his time in LF; they're not going to slide the best player in the NL over for Almora. So to be a regular this season, he's probably going to need to put up a Crawford-ian UZR, which, who knows, could be doable. btw, I'm not expecting to see Soler until, like, late July. They're going to take this really slow, and some combo of Javy/TLS/Almora will probably fine. Oh, and the fact that the division race is kind of over.
  18. Oh man, ESPN just showed Starlin pimping the horsefeathers out of a dong
